Just in case people forgot: Fireman or stoker is the job title for someone whose job is to tend the fire for the running of a steam engine. On steam locomotives the term fireman is usually used, while on steamships and stationary steam engines, the term is usually stoker. Much of the job is hard physical labor, such as shoveling fuel, typically coal, into the engine's firebox. And did you know? The Royal Canadian Navy still has steam powered ships. |

Magi (/ˈmeɪdÊ’aɪ/; Latin plural of magus; Ancient Greek: μάγος magos; Old Persian: ðŽ¶ðŽ¦ðŽ¢ð maguÅ¡, Persian: Ù…Ùغ‎ mogh; English singular magian, mage, magus, magusian, magusaean; Kurdish: manji) is a term, used since at least the 6th century BCE, to denote followers of Zoroastrianism or Zoroaster. The earliest known usage of the word Magi is in the trilingual inscription written by Darius the Great, known as the Behistun Inscription. Old Persian texts, pre-dating the Hellenistic period, refer to a Magus as a Zurvanic, and presumably Zoroastrian, priest. |
