There's a dozen posters I'd like to put on ignore for various reasons.

This would be a great initiative! This could solve many of our recent problems!

It would also be best to use the MAC address as a means of identification. It would prevent users from creating multiple accounts on one computer. Additionally, I would like to, once again, request that users who do not have a computer associated with their account should not be allowed to post, save only for the "Getting Started" forum.

It have never had the inkling to 'click' on a thread named 'Ass of Every Day', let alone read it.

To each his own. Freedom of choice; you have the capability of being your
own moderator now. You can even chose to block those people who have
fought for this privilege, which will be for the benefit of all, now and in the
future.

Your right Dogbytes, personally I won't block anybody because I guess I have the sense to know who's posts not to read and can keep myself from arguing with them. In fact ever since they came out with the - + feature I set my - to 100 just to insure nobodys post or posts got filtered out, I would just as soon see what everybody has to say rather than wonder what the filtered posts were about ...

My sentiments exactly. Until it is known what the fuss is all about, though, a killfile is pretty much useless.

Now there's an idea. No posting possible on anything else but the Q&A boards, in case you have problems, until you have crunched at least X amount of units, returned them correctly and gotten credit for them?

I like. :)

An addition to the idea. Add up all of the scores for your posts, multiply by some number say 1000, and you have to have more CS than that to post again.

Just like we can see the number of posts and cobblestones other participants have in their account info it would be interesting to also show their total point rating, as well as the average rating per post, and average rating per thread.

The idea of assigning a score to what someone writes is repellent to me

It's not so much as a "score", but if you are going to post you should at least participate in the project. If you look at the current people disrupting the forum they have posted an extremely low number of WU's and in the case of one he has posted 0 WU's..

Lets be realisitic this forum is here because of the project and not the other way around.

Interesting but you have actually just assigned a score in a sense. You have said that an idea that people were talking about is "repellent" to you.

that in any other sense is a negative score for the idea. you have voiced a value related opinion... a score.

We all do it even if we do not notice ourselves doing it or think we are above such things.

How would you score me if I came on the board and said 'Hitler' or 'Pol Pot' were good men? you could just ignore me or you would psychologically score me and reply based upon your values and beliefs..

In the forums case to score someone is not so much a punishment but a way of showing community pleasure or displeasure given the score can go up or down dependant on numbers...

It is frightening when people start to gell as a community but that is what is happening here and from what I can see it is one that has an open space for you, me and anyone else interested in participating in a constructive way but it may not have patience with those who come here to damage the forum.

Scoring like walls can have a positive use.
