Sorry Mike, I was very busy this morning so
I grabbed a bite at the local greasy spoon.

I'd like a 35, please.

That's three fluffy buttermilk pancakes, each slathered with butter and plain syrup (not maple); crispy hash browns; three eggs over easy (with no linguistic flack over the term); three large sausage patties, and a large enough pile of bacon to defy counting. Also a large glass of orange juice. And a gooey brownie on the side.

Why is it number 35? Because that's how many calories it has.

Not sure which thread to put this in, but here will do because it involves bacon.

Tuesday evening I went to the Visitation for a Submariner who had died. It was 50 miles each way, and on the way home I stopped for dinner at a diner in Dinuba. The special was bacon-wrapped meatloaf. I got a 4-inch square by 2-inch thick chunk of meatloaf, wrapped in 4 strips of bacon before baking, and topped with Barbeque sauce. Came with green beans and stewed tomatoes, onion rings, and garlic toast. MMMMM, good.

Speaking of Bacon(and who doesn't?), this report today from CNN Money:

Bacon lovers can breathe a sigh of smoky relief.

No, a study didn't find bacon to be healthy. But America's favorite smoked meat is more affordable today.

A one-pound package of bacon is 25% cheaper now than a year ago, according to U.S. Agriculture Department data. That's over a dollar and a quarter in savings and puts bacon back on par with breakfast sausage prices.

Timing couldn't be better. America's bacon craze hasn't stopped.

In the past year, Americans ate 1.1 billion -- billion with a B -- servings of bacon at restaurants.

Unfortunately due to the Bird Flu epidemic in the mid-western US the price of Eggs is skyrocketing and some commercial food distribution companies are considering limiting sales. And that 1.1 billion servings of Bacon is just in restaurants not counting home consumption......speaking of restaurants......

I'll have the Bacon Wapped Sushi, if you please Mike.
