There are many threads here which include links to the lunatics site using the old lunatics.kwsn.net base URL which now get a page indicating the kwsn.net domain has expired. The KWSN server admin jonnyv has converted the site to lunatics.kwsn.info and explains the situation:
...everything that was on lunatics.kwsn.net is still on lunatics.kwsn.info. It's the exact same forum on the exact same server. The url is changing because the KWSN founder and owner of the domains passed away. I'm trying to gain control of kwsn.net. If that happens, we'll switch back. If not, kwsn.info will become permanent.

I'm asking for this thread to be made sticky so those who unsuccessfully try one of those old links may be able to find the explanation.

In all web browsers I've used, it is possible to copy a link address, paste it into the address field, and edit it. Using that to change the kwsn.net portion to kwsn.info should fix any of the old links.

I've looked at the new Lunatics page, and no where does it tell us noobs what Lunatics actually is or does, it just provides some downloads with no details. I searched SETI forums for lunatics, and it comes up with this link.

Where can one go to learn what Lunatics actually is, what it does, etc.

Thank you!

Just open a new thread and ask what you want to know.

In short Lunatics is optimizing seti@home applications.

Thank you. I installed Lunatics, I don't see any icon or start menu program. I load up BOINC and run Seti. There is nothing to even indicate that Lunatics is doing anything with BOINC, nothing on a menu or setting or a badge. Nothing.
Where do we go to see if this is working?

There are no icons or start menu items, it works within the BOINC data folder within the SETI@home folder contained within it and you will see that it shows under your computer details as using "Anonymous platform" if you have done it properly (may take an hour or so to show up). ;-)

Cheers.

well check your temperatures and cpu usage. those are nice indicators it is running

my only complaint is that it could actually crunch harder. prime95 runs significantly hotter. oh, and the lack of the data view screensaver.

The thread you need is this (and follow the links in the last post - there are 3 Download links and one for "full release notes"):
