No that tank is meant for fish, I need some seismic isolators(Mame Tank Saver) that are so far only sold in Japan(due to high demand), plus the location is bad for more than storage, since the aquarium needs to rest on at least 2 floor joists and I doubt this spot has 2 under the aquarium. Anyone know of a Mame dealer in Japan?

Yes the aquarium is empty, I'll eventually have some fish like this in the 125 gallon aquarium.

The EVGA P55 FTW motherboard was delivered by UPS while the a/c installer was out getting some supplies from the Home Depot, I had a 10,000 BTU LG window a/c unit installed today.

The EVGA P55 FTW motherboard, looks ok.

Glad to see you've got a new air-con unit, you should be more comfortable this summer than last.

Yes it should Rob.

I've also been thinking about which motherboard goes in to which case,
the Asus Rampage III Extreme should go into the NZXT 810 Matte Black case and
the EVGA P55 FTW motherboard should go into the HAF-X case, since the cpu cooling for the i5 750 cpu is less than for the i7 940 cpu.

Of course I'll be able to install the Tt 650w video card psu and the pump/reservoir in the NZXT drive, though I might have to switch to a single drive bay pump/reservoir instead, since there are only 4 external 5.25" drive bays in the 810 case.

During the outage on Tuesday I'm going to take this PC offline and start transferring the hdd, dvd, 2 sata cables and the 4 sticks of ram to My new PC, that will be interesting, thankfully I run a Windows 7 Pro x64 retail install and not an OEM version of the Win 7 OS, so I doubt I'll need to reinstall the OS at all.

Well I've run into a roadblock with My 'new' 2011 motherboard, I can't get the PC to boot, the EVGA X79 Classified looks like it works, leds light up, most are red, but 3 near the 24 pin psu connector are Yellow(bottom), Blue(middle) and Red(top).

Being I had the ram, hdd and dvd transferred to the new PC, I cleared the cmos(Bios), more than once, though that button if held down for more than a few seconds would turn the power off, conversely the power button would go from Green to Red, once the power was on the power and reset on the motherboard would act alike, I swapped video cards since nothing was showing up on screen, I put all 4 sticks of ram from this PC in the motherboard in the order that they were in here, nothing.. I'm wondering if the bios chip that I'd installed, that I'd got from EVGA was bad? I may have to post this on the EVGA forums, if no one here has this motherboard..

The Bios was an upgrade to support IVY-E, the present cpu is a Sandy-E cpu, an i7 3820 cpu.

Everything that needed a power cable or a data cable was connected, all the fans were running too.

I took 2 sticks of ram and the hdd out and reinstalled them in this Asus P7P55D-Pro PC, so that I could have a working PC, until I can get the X79 running.

Zoom does the Post LED light up at all? If it does, what does it say?

Edit..

Can you tell what those LEDs correspond to?

Zoom does the Post LED light up at all? If it does, what does it say?

If what you are talking about is the Debug LED/cpu temp, It says FF, which I looked in the manual for and that said 'FB-FF Reserved for Future EVGA error codes'.

I'm thinking My the X79 didn't like two different ram kits in the motherboard, since that is all that might make sense, since that is how I got 16GB of 1333MHz DDR3 ram.

To get a kit of G.Skill with 16GB of ram in a 4 x 4GB 1866MHz dimm kit will take a couple months for Me to do. Since I'll need to pay down part of a card.

I'm going to try again with 1 stick of ram in the morning, I'll need to find another DVI and power cable to go along with the monitor and maybe a hardwired mouse too. If the X79 comes up I'll reset the bios to the defaults.

I found this here, the dreaded FF code..

Right now I'm tired, especially after figuring out which breaker in the house tripped while I was vacuuming the HAF-932/P7P55 case out some, that reminded Me that I need to replace a pair of breakers, they have a broken tab, but that tripped breaker issue was on a different circuit from the one for the kitchen, plus I need to move one 20A circuit and install 3 more, since My a/c, tv, 2-cable tv boxes, cable modem, router and dvd/vhs player are all on the same circuit, so half the living room and the bathroom light are on the same circuit, though Graces Box is on another circuit.

Ok I went down to 1 G.Skill 1333MHz 4GB dimm, so far no change, the Debug LED still says FF. I had a monitor hooked up too, nothing appeared on screen.

My next step is to replace the Silverstone 1500w psu with a Corsair 950w psu that I have on hand(I have a 1050w Enermax, but it needs work done to the 24pin power connector), at least on the motherboard and fan connections, but first I need to cool off though, I'm dripping with sweat.

Oh and this is an i7 3820 cpu here, anyone who has this motherboard is encouraged to chirp in..

The steps listed in your "dreaded FF code" link are excellent troubleshooting steps. And it first starts with smell your parts. That is always my first troubleshooting step. It has served me well in 40 years of electronic board repair. It probably has a 80% success rate too. It is probably the motherboard in my opinion. Try your substitutions to verify good known parts.

Cheers, Keith

Thanks Keith, yeah the next step will be to disconnect the ST1500 and to connect a Corsair 950w psu, after that I'd only have two choices upgrade the bios from 2.02 to 2.07(the latest) w/a new chip or pull the EVGA X79 Classified out and install an Asus Rampage IV Extreme with its 3820 cpu(which I have on hand).

I'd moved the single Dimm to the far left, that didn't do anything, I made sure to listen for a click as each end went in and to rotate the dimm, since the two dimms on the right have the long part of the fingers facing in a different direction than one on the left.

I didn't notice any smell. Oh and the Tester mentioned is no longer available, Rexus makes one and is sold at Newegg, but I'll have to make do with swapping psus(not that I think the psu is a problem, though power cables could be), since I don't really get enough SSI income and I'm almost broke now.

Is one, or preferably both, 8 pin power connectors connected?

Both? One is for overclocking under Liquid Nitrogen... Even the manual says that. And yes I have the 8 pin connected, plus the 24pin, the 4pin(at the bottom of the motherboard), plus all the fans and a DVD drive.

Thanks for asking DMMD.

I've been doing some reading and found My ram is not supported by EVGA, crap, 2GB G.Skill dimms at 1333MHz are supported.

But that some Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (4 x 4GB) CMZ16GX3M4X2133C11R does work, it's not listed either. But I don't have $172.11 right now to order this or any other ram from Amazon or anywhere, I'm not rich, I get SSI, since I don't work anymore, since I'm not able bodied, just moving a dimm, the PC and attaching a monitor made Me sweat profusely, so the new PC stays inactive for another month or two or for however long it takes for Me to have enough to get this ram, since all I have is $22 on a Visa card until the 1st of June, otherwise I'm broke.

I looked at Amazon for 16GB of ram(16GB (2x8GB)Corsair Vengeance 1866 ram), that will work, according to what I've read, with everything included that will maybe cost Me $134.95, but I have to wait until July 1st, the money just isn't there right now. The same ram at Newegg would only be $134.36 after 7.5% sales tax and free shipping, a savings of $0.59, I still can't buy the ram right now, not without going into debt w/a payday loan, that I just got away from and that I don't want to go back to, since that would take Me months to pay off.

Ok I changed My mind on the brand of ram, G.Skill does make ram that is compatible with the X79 Classified, Ripjaws X and Ripjaws Z(1866MHz and up I think with X). http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-14900cl9q-16gbxl I will in July be able to get this ram for $121.49 then.

Of course with an ebucks certificate at the Newegg-ebay store I can get some ram on the 3rd for about $80.40, I've got a decent sized coupon there, yeah it'll be the same type of G.Skill ram, 1866MHz. This ram can also be used in the Asus X79 Rampage IV Extreme too.

Ok I have a small update on the X58 system(Pegasus), the motherboard is now in the NZXT Switch 810 case, that was all I could manage to do right now.

The bare NZXT Switch 810 case in Matte Black.. The back fan is a 140mm NZXT fan, which for the moment will stay, since I have more than a few parts to get, like a single drive bay reservoir and pump, 3 radiators, tubing, some fittings and plastic clamps.

Here is the Switch 810 w/the Asus Rampage III Extreme motherboard, I still have a secondary psu to install in 2 drive bays, hopefully I won't need to mod the drive bay like in the HAF-X case.

And here is the Azza 9000B next to the NZXT Switch 810 case, bit of a difference in size, both have no casters. Also I took out the lower internal drive bay in the NZXT case, this case can handle a 420x140mm, 280x140mm and a 140x140mm radiator, plus two 140mm fans in the front with no mods, 120mm radiators and fans would also work.

I will still need to remove a 360x120x60mm Coolgate radiator from the HAF-X case and add the EVGA P55 FTW motherboard to the HAF-X case, just not today, this pic though shows the Asus Rampage III Extreme motherboard inside, ignore that, since the Asus motherboard has been moved.

I moved the Tt 650w video card psu to the NZXT 810, the psu fits, with no mods, the psu just slid into place, now I just have to remove the Coolgate 360x120x60mm radiator from the HAF-X case. I did remove one of the NZXT drive clamps, since the clamp didn't seem to work on the psu for some reason. From what I've read online and the internal dimensions(553mm) should be just right for the Corsair 950w psu(160mm) and an Alphacool 280mm Monsta Radiator(324mm) with 69mm left over, this psu is not a modular psu, so the psu should be ok with the radiator. Oh and this case only came with a 4-fans, 1 in the back and 3 in the top, so I'll have to buy 8-Noctua NF-14 3000rpm 140x25mm fans for this case, probably in February, but that isn't set in concrete, as I could change My mind.

Now here I am on Memorial Day doing some work on a PC's card, strike while the iron is hot is the saying. So here's an Asus GTX590 card, it's not totally done yet. Here the card is cleaned of the previous owners heatsink compound and thermal pads. Yep, you see here a 'Naked' video card..

This is a trial/dry fitting of the block on to the card. I still need to cut out all the new 1.0mm thick Koolance thermal pads and apply the heatsink compound, the pads are next, then the compound and then the screws and washers. Then repeat on the EVGA GTX590 card.

I found the screws/washers Koolance had sent Me for one of the Koolance 590 blocks and a 480 block, turns out the screws fit in either block type. The Asus 590 won't be using any backplates, even though I think I have a pair, I'm just not exactly sure where they are in the small bedroom(which I use for storage), as they could be in any box in there. I may go and look for them on Tuesday.
