A plug for the Windoze nay sayers! I recently purchased a Lumia 640. Excellent phone! I can't complain about it a bit. Unbelievable battery life.

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, DOWNLOAD WINDOZE PHONE 10! Downloaded an app that will restore it to Win 8 or 8.1, really don't care at this point.

Upon installing the Windoze Phone 10 update (pushed from AT&T I suppose) I lost all PC connectivity; usb, Bluetooth... I couldn't add or remove any files. Unbelievable...or not....

If the reset app works I'll give an update.

Otherwise, my Win 10 PC is really working well. All "spyware" turned off.

HA! It worked, back to Windows Phone 8.1.... gonna stay there for a while....

Until AT&T updates your phone again.

I'm just glad I have an Android phone, it works well with Windows 7 Pro x64. :)

Agreed, my Android phone played quite well with my PC. I only went to Windows for a test drive. I just came off of contract and the Lumia 640 was only $60. I had to at least give it a chance. The jury is deliberating...

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ring now(a CDMA phone), a 4" screen and 3G is a pain in the ass, the Note4 has a 5.7" screen and 4G LTE, of course I'd have to switch to Sprint I think, I'm with Virgin Mobile now, Virgin uses the Sprint network.

This is what is stopping me from crossing over from the Win 7 to Linux.

Yep, not a phablet fan. I need to be able to put my phone in my pocket. I have guys on the job (electrical construction) who hang huge phones from their hips. I don't see how they do it. Even the Lumia 640 is a little large for my taste. I just came over from a HTC One Mini. I haven't given up on that one yet... It taunts me from the shelf it sits on...

But do be aware, petri33 is running MB app "Cuda 7.50 special" which he made himself, so it's only (for my knowledge) Linux running that app.

But for sure, petri33 knows how to run multiple Nvidia GPU's in one host.

I recently converted 5 of my 6 crunchers from Windows to Linux Mint 17.2 and installed Nvidia drivers using the sgfxi scripts. You can read more about the scripts here: http://smxi.org/docs/sgfxi-manual.htm

X needs to be stopped prior to installation.

To install, you run (as root):
cd /usr/local/bin && wget -Nc smxi.org/sgfxi && chmod +x sgfxi && sgfxi

and just follow the prompts.

For future driver upgrades, you simply run:
sgfxi

It couldn't have been any easier. Installation gave me everything I needed. I'm able to run CUDA and OpenCL apps without issue. All of my Linux crunchers have multiple GPUs and BOINC had no problem detecting and using them.

Well, overnight M$ decided apparently that what I really, really needed was to upgrade to Window$ 10. So there it was waiting for the install ok from me.

Already downloaded the 10mb "upgrade" without my approval.

If the Swiss or the EU is serious about suing them, I wish they would get going and end this madness.

No I haven't tried either of those programs, I do use SD Cut the line, but apparently M$ has ways around it. In lieu of trying other fixes I'm going totally to Linux. I've got Ubuntu installed and I will compare it to Mint and then migrate to the system most suited to my needs.

Earlier tonight one of our Windows 7 machines was complaining its Windows wasn't genuine. It hadn't had the 14 updates in yet that had been waiting for slightly over a week. Allowing the updates to install themselves fixed that, but it goes to show that you who want to keep your Windows 7 will need to let updates through, as else your Windows will start to complain about the same thing... and when allowed long enough not to be genuine, it'll start nagging you about getting a (new) activation code.

My Win 7 Pro x64 install says Retail, I have 3 rearm counts left, this is according to the "Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool(1.9.0027.0)". So far I've not been told My system is not Genuine and I have the tool to tell anyone otherwise, but this is My system only.

On Aug. 1st I began receiving "upgrade to windows 10" attempts in updates and all since have failed. Not certain that I'm ready to switch. DH lost a few word files after his upgrade to 10. Otherwise it seems to be working pretty well for him.

I have a Note 4. It's a tad big for doing stuff with only one hand, but other than that I like it. I had (still have, sitting there crunching Seti) a Note 2 and only got the 4 because the 2 was in my back pocket when I fell on my butt and the screen shattered. Fixing it was going to cost half the price of a new phone, and it was starting to have issues with the USB jack too, so instead of fixing it I got a new one. It still operates just fine with the broken screen; it's just a bit hard to read and I worry a tad about cutting my finger on a glass edge. Since it just sits still, the USB usually isn't a problem either. Honestly, I think I liked the 2 a bit better than the 4. BTW, I'm on Verizon.

I think I've finally resigned myself to the idea that a phone needs to do three things; Make calls, text messages and e-mail. Anything else is all but useless to me. The Lumia 640 will save me some money in the end. Another Android would have done the same, I simply wanted to give Win Phone a chance. Win Phone 10 is not ready for the Lumia 640. It somehow screwed up the Bluetooth and USB connectivity, so I restored it to Win phone 8.1 and I have not been disappointed. Again, it is just a phone. Samsung is still the best bang for the Buck as far as Android goes. I am to receive a iPhone shortly through work. Kinda looking forward to the new experience.

My phone company is Virgin Mobile, works good, no contract, costs a flat $35.00 a month, I get unlimited everything, though at 1G, the phone will do only 2G/3G service, which sucks ass real good, in a bad way, I used to use My Wifi router here, but until Netgear comes up with new TWC compatible firmware for the 3500, I'm limited to 3G cell service, crap...
