Message 1664464 - Posted: 12 Apr 2015, 10:56:05 UTC

I propose to post here records in SETI servers performance. Like most task generated per second, most tasks received per hour and most number of outstanding tasks.

To start with:

Data Distribution State SETI@home # Astropulse # As of*
Results ready to send 62,897 4 0m
Current result creation rate 35.2013/sec 1.2416/sec 5m
Results out in the field 2,864,132 72,548 0m
Results received in last hour 66,465 2,428

There were more results received per hour in the past, but 66k for MB and 2,4k for AP not bad to start with.

Happy Cosmonautics day to everyone!

С Днём Космонавтики!

And that initial values holded less than hour:

Current result creation rate 37.2074/sec 1.5253/sec 5m
Results out in the field 2,922,431 76,832 9m
Results received in last hour 70,680 2,583 0m

Servers really in good shape today!

Another few hours and another record in all nominations:
Current result creation rate 37.7181/sec 1.6208/sec 5m
Results out in the field 2,973,193 80,181 10m
Results received in last hour 72,752 2,679 0m
I recall times when over 1m outstanding tasks were emergency situation for servers. Almost 3M already and increasing.

Be careful what you wish for:

MB 'results out in the field' max 10.77 million, 4 November 2012. Wasn't an 'achievement' to be proud of (they were mostly ghosts, but they all had to be accounted for in the database).

Agree, ghosts negatively affect that counter. While ghosts-free could be good estimate of overall project capacity. With "resend lost results" enabled those ghosts can be neglected, not?

Yes. That's why it worries me when David or Matt turns off 'resend lost results' (it was David that weekend).

New record it seems:

Current result creation rate 39.6678/sec 0.0157/sec 5m
Results out in the field 3,698,631 16,207 0m
Results received in last hour 95,748 293 0m

Resends may be turned off currently so results in the field bloatened...

Yes, I was flabbergasted when I looked at the SSP and saw 15,000 or so AP tasks available for download and the AP creation rate actually in whole numbers. Its been a very long time since AstroPulse has been so lively.

How about these numbers

Results ready to send 323,115 24,586

24K AP's ready to send. Before this i would see 20 (not 20K), so for me this uncharted territory.

Yes. That's why it worries me when David or Matt turns off 'resend lost results'

It was turned off on Tuesday, 7 July US time. I'm not sure how long it has been turned off for. It is certainly nice feature to have turned on.

I'm keeping "resend lost results" off for now - this functionality has been clobbering the BOINC/mysql database for a while.

Though it has been turned on for short times I'm betting that there is still an issue there. ;-)

Cheers.

Thanks Winggo, I had momentarily forgotten that Matt had disabled it.
