Picked up some too, but none of those computers match the ones that aborted these |

The kitties sniffed out 29 of them.... Did not trace their origins, just happy to see them arrive. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Hi, Lunatics users appear as anonymous, ;-) P. |

Hi, Different 'anonymous'. The application version shows as anonymous when you install the Lunatics apps, but the user isn't affected. To hide (or show) the user name requires editing the project preferences setting "Should SETI@home show your computers on its web site?" via this website - it can't be done locally. |

Hi, Really? So how come I'm not appearing as anon? I'm a lunatics user... There IS a diff between anon apps and anon user, the latter conceals their id.. So if their rig screws the pooch they cant be informed, and a good few I've come across have very large WU cache's which they either error out, time out or abort.. As I posted, I cant see a VALID reason this is permitted, in the past it has been used to cover illegal use of corporate equipment and resources and in some cases resulted in the user getting the boot and also criminal charges. That brought S@H into disrepute at the time, AFAIR.. Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |

Frankly I don't know why anon users are permitted, when summat goes wrong they cant be told to check or whatever. The project admins can always check their email and if necessary send them a warning through there. Being hidden can be useful when you have certain alpha- or beta-hardware that you want to test using the project, but do not want to advertise. The hardware is still visible to anyone coming across the account, but without a name on it you cannot see who's using this hardware. People testing such hardware will have to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that states that while you may use the hardware for anything you want, you will also do everything in your power to hide from the world that you are testing this unreleased and unannounced hardware. And as such, at projects you can set to have your computers shown or not. |

Whoever it was dumped a ton of AP WUs back to the servers to be reissued. The kitties picked up at least 45 or so. For that many to come this way as resends, it had to be a very sizeable jettison of cached AP WUs. Thank you to whomever for releasing them to be processed. That person has about 63 more APs that all have deadline dates around Saturday and Sunday.. So either he/she aborts them or they will be late and the server will resend them. IMO it is better that they were aborted rather than timed out and risk getting stuck if they are reported late but before you report. |

That person has about 63 more APs that all have deadline dates around Saturday and Sunday.. So either he/she aborts them or they will be late and the server will resend them. Just wondering WHY all those workunits are aborted JUST BEFORE time out with error code 203 (0xcb) EXIT_ABORTED_VIA_GUI. All those are from identical computer with different ID's. Is there problem with S@H database/code or is there somebody messing up with S@H (with script or something) Just wondering. I don't know. |

That person has about 63 more APs that all have deadline dates around Saturday and Sunday.. So either he/she aborts them or they will be late and the server will resend them. I've had situations where a power failure over a holiday or some other event caused my machines to be off. So when I get around to bringing them up I will abort work that is already past due or to near its due date. I've had situations where a power failure over a holiday or some other event caused my machines to be off. So when I get around to bringing them up I will abort work that is already past due or to near its due date. This is different. At least 22 IDENTICAL computers fron ANONYMOUS user. Almost all of this users Astropulse tasks are aborted by GUI just before deadline. 203 (0xcb) EXIT_ABORTED_VIA_GUI Why? Who? What is the answer to life the universe and everything? |
