Is it normal to have work units completing in just under 30 seconds?

Not normal but they do happen once in a while. When you have a question like that about the data unit it helps to look at your wingman and see what those results were.

They do happen, and are more common when using the optimised applications as the first thing they do is a check on the quality of the data. As far as I understand the non-optimised apps don't do this, they slog through the whole process, taking many minutes or hours to do so, before eventually posting an error.
