I just installed a pair of GTX 980s on one of my machines (thanks, Craigslist!) but I noticed some (but not all) WUs getting: SETI@Home Informational message -9 result_overflow NOTE: The number of results detected equals the storage space allocated. But they don't have 30 spikes, which I thought caused this. Of two I looked at, one had 15, the other, 28. Computer is 7025536 Is there something else wrong here? Or did I just run into a batch of bad WUs as I changed my cards this morning? |

How many work units per card are you running at the same time? Are you only running Seti at this time or are you running other projects at the same time? |

Sorry - I should have said: 1) SETI only 2) 3/card, same as I was with the Poseidon GTX 780s I made no changes in the system except physically substituting the EVGA GTX 980 SCs for the 780s. Drivers are the same as before (344.60) BTW, the 980s run ~8C cooler and use ~100-120watts less power than the 780s |

Could be noisy WUs, or some hiccup that seems to have cleared. Probably you won't know for sure until all that run of overflows clears or goes to the invalid list. Hard to tell much now with them sitting in pending, and 0 invalids 0 errors. [Edit:] in fact I see a lot of them going to valid already Conditions for overflow are 30 total signals of all types in MBv7, just in noisy ones 30 early spikes can be most common. As long as it is not one or both of the 980s!!!!! early days, but doesn't look like it to me. none seem to be going to inconclusive (yet anyway) "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. I found when I put the GTX980 into this computer it was flakey until I reloaded the drivers, using a clean install of the same version as had been running. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |
