Exactly my point. I like boats (can't swim to save my life, but love sailing), like flying, trains & driving.

Politics has just as much right to exist as all the other threads on the other boards. For one to keep attempting to get one section of the projects boards shut down speaks volumes.

To be fair attitudes change over time, so do the moderators.

I can see no harm in asking this question now and again.

It also allows the current moderators to see how people feel, which is important.

That's a fair point. However, when the question itself is loaded in referring to a statement from the past to close down just one section when what was stated was the closure of all sections.

It was asked of Janne in what would he do if the politics board was shut down, there's an even better question for Mr S: -

"What would you do every day if the boards where shut down completely?"

Perhaps die.

My life, my stories...my very existence.

I virtually live for sharing things on these boards.

Aside from the science itself, these boards are the heart of the Seti experience.

Nobody would be happy with all the boards being closed down, and I really cannot realistically see that happening, and I for one would fight against it, if that was proposed. But there is nothing wrong with calling into question the validity of one particular forum that seems to be causing a disproportionate amount of attention to manage. We are already seeing a fairly clear opinion from a small group who think it should continue. If the Administration here are willing to expend their resources on such a small portion of their supporters then fair enough. Their project, their rules.

Chris, I don't think much time is being spent to 'manage' this forum at all.
It is pretty much free range.

Incorrect. The boards were provided. To start shutting down individual boards all because some find them not to their liking while leaving others open is censorship.
