Hi There, I noticed today that that a large AstroPulse work unit was assigned to my CPU, with an estimated time of 17 hours. I have a GPU available that can do it much faster: 1. Is there a way to reassign a work unit to my GPU from my CPU? 2. Is there a way to designate that only AstroPulses, or large work units go to my GPU and not my CPU? Thanks! |

You can run AP on GPU only if you install the Lunatics optimized apps. When running the installer, you do not select to install the AP app for CPU. It's been so long since I have run stock, I am not sure if you can tweak things there, but you probably could manually remove the stock AP CPU app and accomplish the same thing. You can run AP on GPU only if you install the Lunatics optimized apps. You could manually remove the stock CPU app, but BOINC would just download it again. For the most part. The only way to specify which app on which hardware is still via an app_info.xml. Which is easiest to do by using the lunatics installer. An app_config.xml might be able to be used to prevent an app from running on one type of hardware using the <app_version> settings, but that would probably be overly complicated. Also I think BOINC would still download tasks & just not run them. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

If you run the Lunatics installer and uncheck Astropulse for CPU it should be possible. Richard might know better. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

If you run the Lunatics installer and uncheck Astropulse for CPU it should be possible. That would certainly be the easiest way to achieve complete control of the system - select those apps you want to run, deselect those you don't. If you did this at a time when you had unwanted tasks (e.g. your AP/CPU) cached, or worse running, they would be orphaned and couldn't continue running without detailled knowledge and manual intervention - not recommended. If you want to reduce the number of allowed application/device combinations, better to run down the cache first. |
