Can the Chinese 'authorities' be encouraged to be more enlightened rather than continuously stifling Tibet?...

Will the Dalai Lama reincarnate?

It is one of the most sensitive political issues in China: who has authority in Tibet? Many Tibetans revere the Dalai Lama and support his goal of greater autonomy from Beijing.

But to Chinese officials, the exiled spiritual leader is a traitor.

The role of Dalai Lama has been filled for centuries through "reincarnation". The current Dalai Lama, the 14th, turns 80 this year, and Beijing is keen to control the process of finding the 15th. ...

... "He doesn't have much of a choice. The lama's reincarnating is a political institution.

"It'll have to be the choice of the Tibetan government in exile and of the people.

"China will have their candidate up and running, and you can be 100% sure that they will. "They'll just pick some Tibetan kid who looks cute enough and they'll put him up there and they'll say, 'This is the Dalai Lama.'

"If we don't have our own candidate from the general Tibetan Buddhist world, then they win by proxy...

Will the Dalai Lama reincarnate?

It's been a long time since that's been done well.

I'm not too sure what this means:

Will the Dalai Lama (be allowed to?) reincarnate?

For the Tibetan culture and religion, "reincarnate" has a very special meaning.

To my reading, the Chinese are set to smash an important part of Tibetan culture by imposing a Chinese puppet imposter 'lama'...

A bit like appointing myself as Pope of the Catholic church and then being empowered to converting that religion into going sustainable and eco-green!...

And for the TV addicts: "Reincarnate" here has nothing to do with bringing zombies to life or other such trite silliness.

The present Dalai Lama indeed has a fantastic good sense of humor and has benefited our world for a good long time.

Here's hoping some good traditions and ways can continue.

I don't think anyone, even us TV addicts, mistake "reincarnate" for "reanimate". Though I'm pretty sure all definitions of reincarnate are trite silliness as you put it.
