Big Daddy aka Protector of The Realm, The World Around, and The Only One of Few with Correct Knowledge of All Things:

Do beware these commemorative coins from outfits that sound like the Royal Mint but aren't. They are often only legal tender in the channel islands or the Seychelles or somewhere, with limited value.

Thanks for WARNING, but, this Particular Coin, came from 'Over There' a Long While Ago, by Some One, who, Was Over There, and Many Other Places, Around The World. Not Sayin' 'it' 'was' 'me', but Sayin'.

And Thanks to Mr. Smith for The Real Info, and NO WARNING.

By the By. The 'Coin' of The 'Realm, 'is' To My Thought, about A Grade between F(Fine) and VF(Very Fine), and a URS(Universal Rarity Scale) around da Middle. So, 'I'm' 'Thinkin', might be Worth, 300 to 500 Dollars. Guessin', ya know.

Sho Do Wish DEM 'Churhhill' 1965ers, were Worth mO dan da Metal. Oh Well, guess dey will 'Stay' in The Pile.

Yep.

May we All have a METAMORPHOSIS. REASON. GOoD JUDGEMENT and LOVE and ORDER!!!!!

Her Majesty goes to the loo?

You mean she doesn't have assistants to do that for her on the taxpayer's pound?

Dena -- You're right, of course, on the size of the silver dollar. I've had
a number, over the years. Just collectors' items, now -- most money is
comprised of "junk" metal; otherwise, people would melt them down.

Dimes used to be 90% silver -- no more. The first American (gold)
Double Eagles I saw were under a glass case in a German bank, in 1961.
I don't think pennies are even copper.

Where are we going? Over 90% of the customers at Starbucks pay via scans of
their smart-phones. Do they miss real money? Get real.

Pennies are zinc with a ultra thin copper coating. Cost more to make than what they are actually worth. Just wait until the electronic systems are down. Had a card and no way to use it in a cash only situation. I had to go to a different place to use my plastic. Speaking of plastic. Some countries are using a plastic form of money to replace their folding bills with. Looks and folds the same but just plastic.

(Edit) They are called Polymer Bank Notes

Canadian plastic bills are great. Cheap to make, hard to counterfit, and (in theory) a long life that should lower average costs.

And, like the old Canadian bills, they have inspired the folk artists.

They are more than collector items. Even if they are worn, they are still worth about $20 depending on the price of silver.

Are Bitcoins Numismatics?
Will Bitcoins be a collectors item in the future?
Can you swim in Bitcoins?

Strange. A dollar is depicted by $, a S with two stroke.
A bitcoin is a B with two stroke.

What stands S for?
Shilling?

I have a number of Carson City silver dollars sitting around, but most of them are worn and have little to no collector value. I also have various low-value Silver Certificate bills; I looked up a $1 SC once and found it was worth $1.25.

One Chicago-based bank (actually owned by a foreign bank) has just introduced a new way of using their ATMs. You have to have their app on your smart phone. Before you pull/walk up to the ATM, you open the app and set it for how much money you want, etc. Then when you get to the machine, you just touch the spot on the screen that says Mobile Withdrawal and it displays a QR code. You scan the QR with your phone and the machine spits out your money. You never have to insert your card into the machine, enter your PIN, or anything. The QR is only good for 45 seconds and only serves to identify the machine to your phone's app.

I had one of these banknotes from 19'th century.

As you can see the signatures and the serial number are handwritten!

The text on the banknote when translated to English.
"Sweden's kingdom banking redeem on demand this bill, on the thirty shilling banco with a quarter crowns silver specie according to the 1830 coin foot."

Was it a large amount for the time?

I have no idea. To a rich man/woman nothing, to a poor man/woman plenty.
The note at that time was worth 25,5 g pure silver
Today the note is about 16 Euros collecters value.
Riksdaler is still used as slang for money, usually meant the value as today's crowns.
Note daler that is the same word as dollar:)

I did a mistake in the translate.
"Sweden's kingdom banking redeem on demand this bill, on the thirty shilling banco with a quarter Daler silver specie according to the 1830 coin foot."

I have a stack of German Gold Bonds, 1927 vintage. Some people have managed to get the German government to honnor them. I've not been so luck. But I do have a claim in.

How many Flanian Pobble Beads would you say a medium sized portion of the Ashes would cost nowadays at the Billingsgate Fish Market?

Flanian Pobble Beads are only exchangeable for other Flanian Pobble Beads.
