Just the historical results of Expanding Empires: Huns, Hindus, Russian, American, et al. Believing they can 'control' this Islamic Region.

Just mentioned historical events (btw, incorrectly simplified to one row) has no relation to a present situation.

Historical events to Russians have very much relation to a present situation.
Heck. They even think that the Swedish "russiaphobia" is because Sweden lost the battle in Poltava in 1709, today Eastern Ukraine.
Or like when a Swedish military attache was accused of killing of a Russian military attache's father when they met each other in a Partnership of Peace meeting.
Why? Sweden exported iron ore to Germany during the WWII and because that his father was killed by a German tank made from Swedish ore.

I see. Then we all are in trouble:)
Svetlana Allilujeva daughter of Stalin for one.
Nah. Actually she moved to the US in 1967 and became later an US citizen.
She lived in Wisconsin when she passed away in 2011.

Reuters - Putin-linked think tank drew up plan to sway 2016 US election - documents
A Russian government think tank controlled by Vladimir Putin developed a plan to swing the 2016 U.S. presidential election to Donald Trump and undermine voters’ faith in the American electoral system, three current and four former U.S. officials told Reuters.

They described two confidential documents from the think tank as providing the framework and rationale for what U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded was an intensive effort by Russia to interfere with the Nov. 8 election. U.S. intelligence officials acquired the documents, which were prepared by the Moscow-based Russian Institute for Strategic Studies [en.riss.ru/], after the election.

The institute is run by retired senior Russian foreign intelligence officials appointed by Putin’s office.

Putin has denied interfering in the U.S. election. Putin’s spokesman and the Russian institute did not respond to requests for comment.
LOL. Who would have guessed?
Putin is a trained KGB officer with disinformation and interfering as a speciality.
Ukraine have acknowledged that very much.

So what?
The 'think tank' thought about it.
It never came to fruition.
End of story.
Except for some snowflakes in Berkeley, for whom it is a bedtime story that shall be told for ages to come.
G'night, sweet little snowflakes. G'night.

Tsar Putin does... Have the ability to, at least, dominate Russia's Neighbors.

Russia has tried to dominate the Baltic Sea for ages.
They use it like a playground and don't care about the countries around it.
OK. Russia has some tiny bits of the Baltic Sea around Saint Petersburg and Kaliningrad.
Stay there!
Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden rules the rest of our sea!
Maybe we should build a wall in Öresund between Sweden and Denmark were Russian Navy has to pass through to get into the Atlantic Ocean.

And that sub doesn't show her flag.

That is very offensive!

Anyway. We have Finns. Russia don't.

Nothing, excepting the use of nuclear weapons to incinerate the human population of this region. Will have a different ending.

Ooh. It's very absurd to imagine that the Russia somehow want to conquer Afghanistan. Western style of thinking about Russia. LOL.

Yes very absurd thinking of the US. Not Europe thinking though.
And Russia hopes never to deploy its Armed Forces and units in Tajikistan toward settlement efforts in neighboring Afghanistan, President Vladimir Putin said.

Chechnya’s irascible leader Ramzan Kadyrov describes journalists as “uncultured, immoral, if you can call them people at all”

Sounds very much like an other leader in the western world.

My friend...............
There are forces in play in this world that it is useless to try to stop.
JFK took a move in that direction and it got him killed swiftly.
What you have to realize is that money equals power.
Unless you and I have that money, we have no power to change a thing.
Those that have will always have the ultimate authority over the rest of us.
You think that the reason Trump won the election was because he was POOR?
No, he won the election because he was rich.

One is Oppression and Murder.
The other is Freedom of Speech. Which includes those in Elected Office.

Yes two very different characters that have different views of the meaning Freedom of Speech.
One Anti "Freedom of Speech" and one Pro "Freedom of Speech".

SAMARA / STOCKHOLM. Louise Molander, 93, has lived throughout the last century's drama in Russia - and has always dreamed of finding her Swedish dad and family.
Now the dream becomes reality.
"I'm so moved and happy, now that I do not have enough time to live, I know I have a family in Sweden," she says - and her Swedish relatives are equally happy.

Samara is a Russian town not so far from Kazakhstan.
