The new CGI series has just started here, it's not bad, but Ithink I preferred the charm of the original in "Supermarionation" Happy Crunching, Graham |

They should try to enter one of our milk carton or cardboard boat races. |

Ahh yeah but these are children, mostly, I think that the perps were "adults". They should try to enter one of our milk carton or cardboard boat races. Old enough to know better(but)still young enough not to care |

Here's an original you wont like http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-32201995 I've seen less-seaworthy craft. Couple coats of fiberglass, a bit of paint, and something to keep the oars from getting away, perhaps.... And lifejackets and a signal lamp or flashlight. In the UK there are a number of "Crafty raft races throughout the Summer, lots of fun to watch and take part in. Photos from one:- http://www.craftycraft.com/gallery.aspx There are some really dodgy-looking craft there. Happy Crunching, Graham |

Way back in 1980, Edenbridge Round Table used to organise the Edenbridge pram race, looks like they brought it back. Very similar to the Crafty Craft race, silly hats and costumes and daft conveyances all for charity. I have an entry that will blow them out of the water. |

We tried to enter it one year, but had our entry refused... Our boat was a 55ft narrowboat to be propelled on its way a couple of dozen (or more) "lusty lads" from a couple of rugby clubs - the problem was we were far bigger than anything they had thought about as being a raft, or even a canoe... I doubt that we would have one the water race, but the drinking race would have been another matter, just by shear numbers Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I met a gentleman in Kona, HI 12 years ago who was a part time bar tender at the "Martini Yacht Club"(now gone). I saw him last year when he and his wife visited Denver. He now works security for a local Kona estate owner who also happens to own the Seattle Seahawks, Paul Allen(yeah Microsoft). Here's his little runabout, "Octopus". For size note the helicopter on the fantail. It also carries a multipassenger submarine that can stay submerged for several days. http://www.marineinsight.com/sports-luxury/yachting/octopus-paul-allens-luxurious-super-mega-yacht/ "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

I spent some time on his first yatch "Charade" Best memory was a bottle of 1974 Domaines Barons de Rothschild Chateau Lafite that he brought over to my boat one evening. |

My boat called Ana was a bit modest. Built in 1939 in Bohuslän by carpenter apprentices. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_(keelboat) Britannia Yacht Club 2777 Cassels Street, Ottawa Ontario, K2B 6N6 |

Nice. It's a submarine for fun. Diving and looking in the sea without getting wet:) Swedish submarine HMS Gotland, with the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. Photo: US Navy. http://rasmusliberal.com/2014/04/15/endast-sverige-svenska-ubatar-har/ |
