barring any mechanical failures will depend on what the state of the art in radiation shielding is at the time of the launch.

I think that's a big one.

The several month journey in cramped quarters will be hard, too. I think they need to perfect suspended animation first, too.

Hopefully, they are just extremely naive. Otherwise, if they are just scam artists bilking people out of their money, the authorities should shut them down.

The minute I heard they were going to be doing a reality tv show about the training I started to suspect that this whole thing was just a money making scheme.

Now it seems that the finalists are coming out and saying the same thing.

You would think that some investigative journalists would be all over this like white on rice. But, at least it looks like the wealthiest of the candidates are being ripped off the most. If what Es99 found is true this whole thing should fall apart real soon.

I wonder what Robert Zubrin has to say on the subject.

I'm not really surprised the truth seems to be coming out, but I'm a little disappointed, too, just because it would have been an interesting adventure to follow.

I have obtained ownership of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. I am interested in selling and am now taking bids. What am I offered?

Also: Selling Condoms approved by the Pope. They are $2.50 a piece (so to speak) How many do you want.

Mars One Is Broke, Disorganized, and Sketchy as Hell

You get points for getting through each round of the selection process (but just an arbitrary number of points, not anything to do with ranking), and then the only way to get more points is to buy merchandise from Mars One or to donate money to them....

In February, finalists received a list of "tips and tricks" for dealing with press requests, which included this: "If you are offered payment for an interview then feel free to accept it. We do kindly ask for you to donate 75% of your profit to Mars One."

100 Finalists Have Been Chosen For A ONE-WAY Trip To MARS.

If all goes according to the nonprofit’s plan, 100 people will jet off to Mars in 2024. Pictured is a spacecraft launched from a NASA facility, but NASA won’t take part in Mars One’s mission.

Dutch nonprofit Mars One has named 100 people who will remain in the running for a one-way trip to Mars, expected to leave Earth in 2024. Out of more than 200,000 people who applied, 24 will be trained for the mission and four will take the first trip, if all goes according to plan.

one of my favorite authors use to say:
"Neil Armstrong once said, ‘You only have to solve two problems when going to the moon: first, how to get there; and second, how to get back. The key is don’t leave until you have solved both problems.’" - Jim Rohn
