Download server1 on georgem is disabled.
If you have an app.info or app.config file set up to use only that download server, that may be your problem.

Most likely it's just bad luck. With georgem disabled, vader has the full load of all downloads so it is not always ready to accept a connection. And the DNS system is listing georgem first half the time, the order is supposed to switch every 5 minutes.

A suggested procedure which has worked for me:

1. Disable network activity in BOINC.

2. From a command prompt window do a

nslookup boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu

periodically until vader (208.68.240.13) is listed first.

3. In the command prompt do a

ipconfig /flushdns

just to be sure Windows DNS cache isn't holding the wrong one.

4. In BOINC, enable network activity, select a download and click the Retry button.
                                                                  Joe

Josef,
I did all you suggested and nothing changed.
I have now run out of CPU work for this computer(except that which will not download). Any other suggestions?

Only thing that did help me was to Reset project. All stuck in transefer will become Timed out but at least my host started to download again

I suppose it couldn't be the "hosts" file with an entry for georgem?

No, I am not using a hosts file. Good thought though.

I may resort to that when the GPU work is finished in a few hours.

Well resetting the project did not help.
Now I am getting:
2/26/2015 7:33:59 PM | SETI@home | Temporarily failed download of sah_40.png: connect() failed
2/26/2015 7:33:59 PM | SETI@home | Backing off 00:19:46 on download of sah_40.png
and the like...so now nothing is working.
Now with 20 downloads stuck.

At least it is trying to download.

The download servers are having problems right now, so that is likely your problem at this time.

Yes, I have seen that all downloads are down now.....but my error message is still different on that computer.
Guess I will have to wait for downloads to begin before I can look further, but I do not know where to look further at this point. As far as I can tell I have reached the end of things I can do. For some reason this computer has never kept restore points, it will tell you it is creating them but they can not be found. It is possible that the fact that this computer runs a RAID 1 might have something to do with it.

Well still no answers, just ongoing questions. At present this computer does nothing but SETI so I could wipe and install again I guess.

1 of 2 options

Wait till the download problem is fix then if it doesn't resolve, try reset 1 more time.

If it still fails to download everything, detach from the project and then reattach and see if it will download the appropriate parts.

Failing that, you would delete BOINC and reinstall and then attach again to Seti.

2 of 2 options

Just suspend Seti for now and crunch another project for now and then when Seti comes back up try option 1 again.

Hope you figure it out

Thanks, that gives me two more options. I will wait for the current problems to resolve before trying to resolve mine.....

Well after, long after, the reset I did yesterday Lost Tasks started to download and heading the list were some vlar's which were not downloaded because they had timed out. After that I go downloads and downloads, over 100 errored out because of being abandoned. Then my cache filled and the computer has been happily generating heat and completed WU's ever since.

But the computer did connect to start downloading software before it went on to the WU's.

So was this before or after they brought the 2nd download server on line?
Not entirely sure when that occurred.

EDIT: 2 March at 8:38 PM which would be 1:38 on 3 March UTC is when the downloading started.

But as a sidebar my kitchen TV which is a Smart TV and should connect to the Internet on it own would not connect. It would connect to the router but could not connect to the Internet. It also is now working. I do not know if this means anything or not, or even if it is related but is sure seems to be.
