It's an ancient fold/fracture/fault line (or a series of folds that are fractured) and at that time it was the floor of a great inland sea. What actually caused those ranges no one can really say, but it produce a series of parallel ranges running east west. It's theorised that the same event started the draining of that great inland sea and toppled Ayres Rock onto it's side. Devils tower is an old pile of lava rock. No it's looks like something hit there, I checked it and it's like 486 miles wide but round. Well Wiggo would know better than me but it sure looks like one. I did go to Meteor Crater in AZ one time, what a hole in the ground. Beer O'clock in 6 hours. Cheers everybody Life is short so don't sip Beer speaks, people mumble |

TGIF that everyone looks for but it's friday the 13th not so cool. LOL got a new camera coming from Amazon to replace my old one I liked so much. $465 isn't too bad but it has all the bells and whistles on it plus remote shots not holding the camera and wifi. Beer O'clock 5 hours. Cheers everybody Life is short so don't sip Beer speaks, people mumble |

G'morning everyone from a very bright Saturday start to the day down here. Grant, for the time scale that we're talking about there was quite a bit of volcano activity happening around here back then so I wouldn't be surprised if a pimple exploded at the bottom of that sea which caused all those tourist sites out there to exist, but no one will every really know. They all look good though, well they did to me 30-40yrs ago (maybe I'll get another chance 1 day to see how that small amount of time has effected them). There's still a bit over 2hrs to go for Beer O'clock here so I'll go and get myself another coffee. Cheers. |

G'morning everyone from a very bright Saturday start to the day down here. Well what surpised me is the ring around that area 486 miles, bad hair day for someone or something. :LOL we had a man over there which I think was Mark Shoemaker who found many impacks but was killed in an auto accident there. There are plenty of impact sites out there Grant (a very large 1 is only a few hundred miles south of there, though very likely the ranges were well and truly already in place by the time that happened), but it's more likely that this was caused by the Cambrian Impact (which set off ripples throughout the whole earth's crust (the timing is darn pretty close) and them being the after effect of that here and scientists seem to agree that they were created by seismic/volcanic activity. Anyhow, I'm about to open the beer fridge to see what after effect happens here today before the first cricket WC match of the day starts (and then there's the Aussie GP also on this weekend). ;-) Cheers. |

Well I know they say that they know of 200 impackes over the world but I look anyways to see if I can find more. LOL great past time. one place is called lac Maniccouagan, Quebec which is a large impacked, age I haven't a clue. Maybe Julie can translate. No beer here, but just popping in to say hello. :~) Prince opened his tour here, last night, with two shows, and is doing another two, tonight. I'm not going, but I did like him, back in the Purple Rain days. Here are some pictures of The Louisville Palace, where he played last night, and will again, tonight: https://www.google.com/search?q=louisville+palace&biw=1280&bih=570&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=lm0FVf7yBMGbgwTBr4GQCA&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAg The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Looks like everyone is out. It's been a nice sunny (but cool) start to Monday here so I'm just putting a couple of brews down. Beer O'clock maybe here in 2hrs, but then I may hold off until the cricket starts a couple of hours later. Back into the brewroom for me now. Cheers. |
