I saw a great documentary the other night about Hal Blaine, Tommy Tedesco, Glen Campbell and the rest of "The Wrecking Crew". Masterfully told by Tommy's son, Here's a link to the store, DVD $23 Blu Ray $25. http://store.wreckingcrewfilm.com/ "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

There were so many musicians back in the day that did the backup stuff in the studios and NEVER got any credit on the label when the final product was released. It is hard to even find out their names. This is probably the docu you referenced..... The days of the 'Wrecking Crew'. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

No what I saw was on Paladium, I believe, and was the actual movie made by Denny Tedesco. One great back story was about Peter Tork showing up at the studio and becoming angry when told the 'crew' would be doing the recording. He really thought the Monkees were real.......... ;). Turns out he and Michael Naismith were actually pretty talented musically. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

My main roots go back further than that........... \ PPM and others I knew at the time. Pete Seger, the bluegrass groups of the time,. And most of them ended up singing anti war songs....go figure. Which side are you on? You could not possibly be trying to say that PPM were fake??????????????????????/ "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

The great Nina Simone Very nics, thank you. Now, please answer this................. A version less heard..........that is what I do.This version is rather rough, and that's the way I like it from my gurlz. She sings of what I excel in..............the deeper side of blue. I take days sometimes to follow every tube link. I find more darkness and simply crap about humanity, but then I find such a thing as this.-+ I sort through years of crap to find and present to you a few things///. And wish to ban me..........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm/. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

The ballad Oklahoma reminded me of the most powerful(in my opinion) baritone voice in musicals, Harve Presnell, sadly also gone to Cancer. The best example of his power comes from "Paint Your Wagon", my favorite musical of 3 that I will acknowledge. 'West Side Story' and 'Camelot' being the other 2. Harve at his best.......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByqYEzugleE And two unlikely(?) voices........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTymtAbaG08 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn8YubD01sk "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

One more artist this morning, gone in 2006 a composer, lyricist, and unique voice. Three of his best........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDN4L7cAQf0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zugy2rkSM7g I was having a long range relationship between Denver and Tulsa around then..... And thanks to the movie, his most famous offering......'how bad we are.....' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vAyitZPcMo "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Lee Marvin I would not have pegged as a singer. Nor Clint, although he wrote much music for his films that I am not sure he got credit for. He did the wonderful ending for his epic Gran Torino. And his son has shown some predilection for following in his father's footsteps, musically and as an actor. And as usual, I do appreciate at times that I am not just one hand clapping here. Thanx for the links. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

And not everybody knows that Bruce Willis is a player either. And a fine bluesman at that. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I think Hugh Laurie came out of his closet some time ago. He also has worked some of his musical magic into his hit series House MD from time to time. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

One for the ladies Well, that was different. I don't care for videos that are degrading to women and now, having finally seen one, I am actually relieved to report that I also do not care for videos that are degrading to men. I do, however, LOVE-LOVE-LOVE that magnificent spiderweb dress that the singer was wearing. Where do you think I can buy one of those???!!! |

@Pawly......OMG! I am officially, deeply in LOVE with her voice and THANK YOU for bringing her talent to my attention. @Angela, come on, lighten up a little. I cannot judge by one song any theme or attitude of the artist. The song is intended to be an ode to 'trailer trash' lifestyle, and the video was just a way of enhancing the theme. I personally am going to start exploring Ellie King's catalog because I think there may be some very bright diamonds therein. ";D) [edit] Here's something else I just found, I'm getting more and more impressed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBAFz880b_Y "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |
