Hey all,

Has there been any issues with accounts missing credits / tasks?

I just noticed my badge has dropped down to top 25% - I noticed that virtually all my tasks for 2014 are missing and it looks like I have only been crunching since mid December 2014.

Thanks,

I can't give you a substantive comment on the first part of your question, but in general once you've earned credit you don't loose it. I'm not sure exactly how the badges are awarded, but it is probable that other people have been "working harder" than you so yo have been overtaken by enough people to push you down the rankings a few notches.

Older tasks are removed from display once they have been validated and then purged from display - just think how long a list I would have if they were all displayed all the time!

There have been a bunch of AP work units available. Those of us who can use the GPUs are running up a bunch of credit inflating the value of the badges. We had a long dry spell of AP units and that lowered the cost of a badge.

My processors can produce a RAC of about 5000 where as the GPU can produce about 30,000. Most of the GPUs are of an older generation and don't produce as much but that shows you how a change in the work balance can change the badges awarded.

Don't forget that it's more a matter of luck as to who receive the magic work unit that finds ET. ET might be found by a person who only turns out one work unit a day. All thats important is that you are making a contribution. Around here we don't care how much work you do and are more that willing to help everybody get the most out of their system.

Validated tasks are purged from the Boinc Database 24 hours after validation, So you won't see tasks from Dec if they validated outside the last 24 hours.

(The exception is for Astropulse at present, as assimilation and purging has been delayed because of the Astropulse Science database problems)

With the current 123057 active users the 5% badge would be granted to those from rank 6152 to 1231. Looking at the Top participants for that area you have just fallen below 6152.
Looking at the external stat site Free-DC your daily output in the past week looks to have dropped a bit. Probably when we were out of AP work recently. Which would reduce your RAC compared to others that say do MB work only.

Thanks guys, I noticed my client had 'Use GPU Never' - which I must have selected recently by accident.

Allowed GPU usage again.

Looking at the App details for your host. It looks like you have not done any SETI@home v7 or AstroPulse v7 on your GPU. AstroPulse v7 was added in October. So your RAC may have been falling for quite some time with your GPU set not to be used.

I know I shouldn't be so petty but I noticed my badge is gone as well. I have
a OK RAC of 23K, as of this post. One of my computers is down so not as good
as it should be. And almost 12 million in work done score.

Badges haven't been working right since the great crash of 2014. I don't think it's been a priority to fix them. Mine still shows me as "bronze"; due to my current points in RAC, I believe I should be well into the "silver" range by now.

Hopefully, they will fix this; but, like I said, it most likely isn't a priority.

to see my badge.

THANKS Timelord!!!

Your current RAC puts you at rank 1,920. As I calculated previously
With the current 123057 active users the 5% badge would be granted to those from rank 6152 to 1231.

However just browsing the Top participants list it is clear that the badges are not really working. Given the user at #7 has a silver badge. I normally have the badges disabled in my browser. Given they are plastered all over the place in a gaudy fashion.

Hal, I never liked the bagde idea, so how can I disable it from showing?
(Woriking to much, to trust myself to edit any of my account info without guidance.)

I use an add-on for my browser called adblock plus. It is mostly meant to block ads, but will let you add filters to block any kind of content you like.
To block the badges I have just added berkeley.edu/img/pct_*.png

My badge isn't showing and I am not sure why but I suspect it's because my star is turned off.

I think it is another of the items that are not working correctly currently.
