Jesus.......Lord, that's a shame to hear.

That is what the problem is.............
What simply cannot be understood.

As some of you might recall or not, I lost my younger brother many years ago.
And for reasons only he knew.

We cannot understand just what one leads to that path.
I shall never know my brother's thoughts.

I can tell you this much../.
He has been in my thoughts every day since that day.

And a few more thoughts............

That day......

I got a phone call..

Do you wish me to share more or not?
I have to ask because the mods have been involved already.
Do you wish to hear my story, of would you rather just accept my sincere condolences and leave it at that, my friend?

I rather it would be your choice rather than some others.

Just lest me know.

This has about aced my night here.
I am done here tonight.
Sweet Shane....
I could go on here for hours debating why or why not.
It seems you have already made that decision.
I can no longer talk to you about it.
Your leaving has made some thoughts raise to mind that I have long ago thought I had left behind.

Thank you that you had had me bring them up again, Shane.

Wish you would have contacted me earlier. I could have shed some light on your problems.

Oh Monday :( I'm so sorry :( Terrible news :(((( My deepest sympathy to you... and to all his family and friends too. I can only begin to imagine the torment of losing someone you know and love to suicide :( My mum tried and failed on my sixth birthday, and even now, where I've had 42 years to work on understanding why and how things can get so dark and so lonely to take anyone to that moment of despair and beyond, and to leave everyone who loves them behind without so much as a chance to even say goodbye, just leaves me confused and wretched :(

I think we often believe that maybe one last chat, or joke, or cuddle or just one more "how are you" or "I love you" could've changed things and made them feel less alone and made them believe in themselves again. I'm not sure we're right though :( Too often what we're seeing on the outside, possibly for weeks and months or even longer, is just a projection they don't want us to look beyond. I'm so sad for you all, and so so sorry :( Whatever his troubles were, he is now at peace. I hope you can all draw some solace from that at least. RIP Shane :( I'm sorry you felt alone when you weren't :(

@Mark :( So sorry :(

@Julie :( losing friends - however it happens - hurts :(

Yes........
It's always those left behind that hurt the most.
Those that leave are beyond hurt, we hope.

I've been some shade of depressed all my life, but suicide has never been an interesting option for me. I can understand why it is for some people.

Monday, I'm sorry to hear your friend made that decision. :~(

Same here.
I'm a classic manic depressive. Head for the skies some days and then crash like a rock the next. But never to the point of thinking I must do something to end it all like my brother did. Ever. Having lived through what he did, it is just not an available option.

And I am logical enough that when I have a down day, I can realize it and talk myself through it, knowing that another UP day is just around the corner.
It does not make life easy at times, but I can work through it all.

And it is absolutely no BS that my cats help me a LOT.

Last week, the afternoon guy on the radio as I was going home was interviewing a multiple-attempt survivor. One of the questions he asked was (more or less), "When you're that low, are you able to consider how your loved ones will feel if you do this?" His answer was that yes, he did think of that, but felt they couldn't possibly feel as low due to losing him as he felt at that moment.
