Murial was nineteen. Her experience with men consisted of Sidney and himself. Both of whom had heretofore been brotherly figures. The poor girl must be confused as hell. Sidney had suddenly decided that she was Venus, Queen Elizabeth, and the Virgin Mary all rolled into one, and Turner had all but forced himself on her. Not exactly an average day in the life of a young country miss.

"Professor" Stanley Unwin explaining how to use her new computer, this explains the fixed grin on her face.

Maître Henri-Robert: So your "inheritance" was one brick and one half penny coin... "sniff" ...English.

Thérèse Humbert: Oh yes sir. Why! I had no idea people valued such things so highly. Just my luck they fell out of favour... you know... after I'd borrowed so much against them... I think that's because of where the brick came from personally... and possibly the coin...

"Order! Order!"
"Thank you, m'lud. I'll have a large gin and tonic, please."

There was a clear winner, but very difficult to choose second and third place!

First, special thanks to Blurf for setting the bar high with the first entry.
"The man of the house, Sidney Snodgrass, requests the pleasure of your presence this evening at 'The Snoring Boar' pub. Please do not mistake it for Miss Miggins pub next door."

Bonus points were available for entries in French or leveraging the original context. The not-so-quiet Zalster was Gaelic rather than Gallic but also gets a language bonus with:
The Babhdóir calls upon the Widow Tallane to arrange for the traditional "walking out" with Squire Danaher

I'm not familiar with that film, but while looking it up I was reminded that Mildred Natwick (who played the Widow Tallane) received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in one of my favourites, Barefoot in the Park.

Lynn also gets an honourable mention for very cleverly picking up on Zalster's entry, with:
A quiet man is a thinking man, A quiet woman is hatching a plan.

In third place is Mr Grenade, with an inspired rhyme in a seductive mix of French and English:
"Thérèse, mon cher, shall we repair to tus boudoir?

(although it would have been even better as "Thérèse, ma chère, shall we repair, à ton boudoir?")

Annie takes second place with her reconstruction of a "humorous side of the 'cause célèbre'":
Maître Henri-Robert: So your "inheritance" was one brick and one half penny coin... "sniff" ...English.

Thérèse Humbert: Oh yes sir. Why! I had no idea people valued such things so highly. Just my luck they fell out of favour... you know... after I'd borrowed so much against them... I think that's because of where the brick came from personally... and possibly the coin...

And the winner is... Chris!
Mrs, Miggins, will you please tell the court in your own words, why this iPhone came to be found in your nether garments.

"Well your Honour, I use it as a bush telegraph"

A message is on its way, naturally on the bush telegraph.

Thanks for the Third... French is not really my language, coming in after English (of course), Italian, and Spanish in my quintalingual repertoire... (German brings up the rear...)

The rhyme was accidental...

The film, for those that missed the allusion, is The Quiet Man starring John Wayne.
