I have a problem, I hope someone can help me ...

I built a new PC.
With for me new OS, Win8.1 x64.

This time I made two accounts, an admin and a normal user account in Win.
This is new for me.

I'm in the normal user account and install BOINC (before I must allow it with the admin PIN).
On the page where I can change the path for installation, I uncheck all three questions on the bottom.

Also the question about 'allow all users to control BOINC'.
IIRC this is the 'service' installation, which could make problems if you crunch on GPU.
I remember correct, or I'm wrong?

OK, installation completed.
Reboot of the PC.
Start BOINC Manager.

I get the message like 'manager can't connect to client'.

I change to the admin account and start BOINC Manager.
Here the manager can connect to the client and BOINC run normal.

If I change to the normal user account and after some time I go back to the admin account,
I can see in BOINC/messages that the calculation was stopped during the time I was in the normal user account.

I would like to run BOINC under the more secure normal user account.
What made I wrong?
What I must do?

BTW, it's possible to run BOINC in both user accounts?
But IIRC this would be the 'service' installation and could make problems if GPU crunching ...?

Thanks.

I bought a new PC and found it had a Windows 8 64-bit installed (no DVD). I was asked to create a user and I gave a password. Then I installed BOINC 7.4.27 and Virtual Box 4.3.12 which I needed to run the CERN programs written in Scientific Linux.
Since I am a UNIX and Linux user, I only did what the system asked me to do. I update Windows regularly and use Windows Defender to protect it. The only problem I find is when the system asks me to restart it after an update but, luckily, the CERN programs Atlas@home, vLHC@home and CernVM_WebAPI restart regularly after a shutdown, and so does BOINC.

In your situation, using a standard user account separate from an Admin account, you will want to select the "Allow all users to control BOINC". This is distinctly different (read: NOT) from a service install.

This means any additional user accounts created on that machine will also be able to run BOINC Manager.
