Looks like something I would use to install o-rings past threads or other grooves

Celttooth is getting sort of close. Next clue: you use these to prepare something that might get very carefully placed into a "hole".

They come in a range of diameters, from fractions of an inch up to 6 or 8 inches (5mm to 20 cm). Those are just the ones I've used, they may come even larger.

Not a muffler, nothing to do with depleted uranium or rapid burning fuels.

Oh shucks...what's the fun if you cannot play with rapidly burning fuels?

Winner! J. Mileski nailed it exactly. Used to install o-rings or other sealing rings over threads and sharp corners. PM on its way.

I should clarify, if you mean to take a bend out of something, then no.

"Bend" to me is a deliberate deforming of material. Straightening (to me) could also be the removal of wrinkles, warping, or other unintended deformations that were byproducts of another process (heat treating, curing, drying, etc.).
