I have been advised to Copy/Paste my 2x Posts across from the BOINCstats Forum.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1.
I used to have the GPU successfully doing work crunching data, but notice now that it does no BOINC work.
BOINC Manager in Advanced > Show All Tasks for all Projects I do: SETI, Milkyway@home and Asteroids@Home show the following (Sadly I cannot upload images here)
I cannot copy/paste from the Task list either - Such a nuisance.
So, in short:
GPU suspended - user request (0.149 CPUs + 1 NVIDIA GPU ......................(cuda50)
I had no trouble before with the GPU computing.
Advice would be useful.
Cheers
Kerry
2.
As nobody has bothered to advise, I have just aborted all of the 165 (cuda50) waiting tasks
because it looks as if they will never actually process, until some settings are altered.
If someone is kind enough to assist with the problem, it would be appreciated.
The PC runs 24/7, never turned off except for reboot.
All Drivers etc upgraded to latest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Perhaps someone at SETI is able to assist.

When the GPU is able to process data, the quantity per day is markedly increased.

Note: Because SETI ran out of DATA to process, I started Asterooids@Home and Milkyway@Home also.

I note Asteroids @home uses most of the processing time.

That may be OK with SETI, as it's possible SETI may run out of data to process in the near future.

But I really need advice re getting the GPU Processing working again.

Cheers from a land far away.

GPU suspended - user request (0.149 CPUs + 1 NVIDIA GPU ......................(cuda50)

From what you have posted there it indicates that somehow you suspended the processing of GPU work, that's why it wasn't being processed.

With the Manager open, click on Activity and make sure "Use GPU based on preferences" is selected (or use GPU always).
If GPU work still isn't being processed, then post the first 40 or so messages from the Event log (Advanced, Event log) upto & including messages about starting/restarting tasks & a Scheduler request & any responses.

As nobody has bothered to advise, I have just aborted all of the 165 (cuda50) waiting tasks because it looks as if they will never actually process, until some settings are altered.

Aborting should be the very last option to use if all else fails. Resetting the project should generally be used before aborting, but even that after checking local/web settings to make sure they are not responsible for whatever is happening.

I would add to Grant advise to check you also have the pref's set to in proccessor usage to

use GPU while computer is in use and

computing allowed
while computer is in use

have both settings check box , checked

if still having trouble do what Grant said post the last 40 lines of your event list

I'm having similar issues. I've doubled and triple checked the settings. Seti will used the gpu for about a week in mid december then only cpu since then. Multiple computers, same issue. Just chalked it up to Seti being out of data for gpu.

I have been advised of the answer from Tom*

I was advised to Right Click the Task Bar icon and untick "Snooze GPU"

The Task Bar BOINC does not have this facility.

But when I looked at the System Tray (Right hand side clock area of the monitor), and Rioght Clicked on the BOINC icon, there was facility there.

Untick "Snooze" also untick "Snooze GPU".

I had not seen that before...so simple to fix.

Cheers :)

More precisely, those newer drivers no longer support your graphics card. NVIDIA made that change deliberately.

That's absolutely true, but unfortunately not the whole story.

The change was made in two stages. First, the 340.52 drivers in July 2014. These install and run perfectly well on the older hardware, and seem to function properly as graphics display/gaming drivers. But the general-purpose computing OpenCL component appears to be broken, and returns incorrect results. This OpenCL change wasn't announced, and we don't think it was deliberate.

Then, starting with the 344.11 driver in September 2014, it was made official: those drivers can't be used at all on older hardware, not even to drive a video monitor. They won't install.

So, we have to ask BOINC crunchers to manually avoid the intermediate 340.52 drivers, and downgrade again if they have installed them without being aware of the implications. We still live in hope that a hotfix driver will be released to remedy the OpenCL mistake (NVidia have promised ongoing bugfix support until 2016, although they have withdrawn from new feature development).
