Then there is the Asus Rog series Mars dual 760 video card w/4gb ddr5 ram, sure there is no water cooling ability(though I know of a guy who could fix that), but it has more combined cuda units, than a 980 Poseidon...

Does anyone ever think about the implications of the aliens finding out that we mostly used GAMING equipment to find them?

This 3dfx commercial is nearly 20 years old, but I think it goes along with what you are thinking.

Yes, that is a very close approximation.

It is an interesting card but from the quick scans of the searches I did I could not see anything related to power usage which would be my main concern.

if you are interested in these cards, then you need to decide if you are comfortable with the power consumption which I suspect may be slightly high.

Another tack may be to wait and see if ASUS come out with a 960 equivalent of this card. Lower power and two processors could be very interesting.

cheers

I found something on power usage, it's 300w, it's at the Guru of 3D website, gpu load is at 280w of course. To see the 300w statement someone will have to scroll down some, but it's there.

I think I can say, that Asus might not make a 960 version, they have already announced a Titan Z dual gpu card, yeah it has 12Gb of ram and takes up 3 slots, here's a pic of this monster and a linky to the May 28th 2014 announcement...
That being said there is a page at techpowerup.com that talks about the upcoming GTX960, but no word online about any Asus dual gpu GTX960...
