Or that people don't know that they can turn off the auto-renew option on day one.

Chris are you shore your not liable for the whole contract if you cancel before a certain time .

Cancelling the visa card may not get you out of paying it .

Rule 1 never use a free trail there is usually some sort of catch .

I hope for your sake they don't go to far in getting the rest of the contract out of you .It mite not be a con but it is dishonest in my opinion .

good luck getting it sorted

It might be different in the UK.
A friend of mine canceled it without any charge here in germany.
I`m a prime member and will continue because i`m using it a lot.
I safe enough money for postage and get Instant video for free.

I did use Maxdome before and this is much more expensive with less quality.

I've had prime for quite a while and fully knew what I was getting into. I had been adding up all the shipping fees, that resulted from our ordering habits and figured that for another $10-$20 per year I would get most of the stuff as 2-day shipping. YMMV.

I tried Prime once and then cancelled before the month was up, with no trouble. Then two years ago, I tried it again. I decided to keep it and found that it pretty much pays for itself. I like the 2-day shipping and I buy most of my Christmas gifts on Amazon. It works well for me and Amazon is great about returning stuff. Last time I ordered a $6 tea bell and they sent a replacement razor head that was worth $75.

When I contacted them, they told me to keep the razor head and do with it as I pleased. They apologized for the mixup and refunded the price of the tea bell.

My son happened to have the exact razor that the head fit, so I gave it to him. Now when he needs to replace that expensive head, he has one right at hand that is totally free. It's hard to beat good customer service.

I've found that even using Amazon's Super Saver Free shipping option, I sometimes get stuff awfully quick. I've even had stuff delivered on Sunday. I think the delivery service might be in the neighborhood for a Prime person, and they decide it makes sense to go ahead and drop my package, too. :~) It will have Prime tape on the package, too.

The first item I bought with Prime, was a 75 pound exercise bike. It came in two days, free shipping. That one item made the entire year of Prime worth it. Now, we order 70-100 items a year, including books, computer parts, and just about everything you can think of, and it gets here in two days.

If they doubled the cost to $200 a year, I would not hesitate to renew it.

Amazon is a store where I can find anything I need without leaving the house. I totally love it, and that doesn't even count the music and videos I have access to.

I seldom use the music or video either, but the free two day shipping is fantastic. It way more than pays for itself, but as you pointed out, you have to know you are going to be billed every year.

And no, I will NOT have Amazon drones hovering over my house trying to deliver stuff. I will take my business elsewhere thankyou very much.

Oh, c'mon. I think the drone idea is cool. :~)

I'm not one of these people that have to have things 5 minutes after ordering them, I'm quite happy to wait for the cheapest delivery option. Bear in mind also that I live in a large City, if it is that important I can go to a store or shop and take it home. I don't live in the sticks where carriers are the only option.

It's horses for courses, if it costs in for you that is fine, it doesn't for me. And no, I will NOT have Amazon drones hovering over my house trying to deliver stuff. I will take my business elsewhere thank you very much.

Same here Chris S, I can wait, but if FREE is offered that takes 3-5 days, I will take that route, I have lots of time, otherwise I'll pay for the cheapest delivery method.

I don't and can't get everything on Amazon, some things come from eBay, some from Honeyville Farms, some from Newegg, some from FrozenCPU, some from local sources(O'Reilly Auto Parts, Rite Aid, Vons or Stater Bros), or even if I have to from Performance PCs, Performance PCs I'd be careful of since once you buy something from Performance PCs, there is no return or refund from this company in Florida, I found that out the hard way once, thankfully the Silverstone 1500w ST1500 psu works fine and Silverstone has great warranty service.

Eventually I might be ordering 2 Phanteks Enthoo Primo Special Edition tower cases in Black(outside) and Red(inside) from Overclockers UK that I can't get here in the USA, at least once they've fixed their problem with My type of address. These cases in the US are only in Black/Orange, kind of clashes with a black/red Asus motherboard in My mind.

I save money by not having Amazon Prime. I see something that I would buy but it's not a deal with no free shipping.

Gordon my good man, there are only two drones that I recognise, one is a male wasp, the other is the prelude to a Quo concert. My house is a UAV free zone thank you very much.

Vic, you and your future possible purchases of PC cases will soon dwarf the great moth invasion of '14 :-)))

What no Honey Bees?? Bees have drones, as do the fictional BORG...

Hey the moths showed Me where the house needed some work, as I had plenty of incentive to do so, and they saved Me money on My heating and cooling bills too(5 mins is all the heater stays on now, better than the previous 10-15 mins), by making My house more energy efficient. But then I live in what is called a fixer/upper, I still have 3 windows to replace, a few outlets/light switches to apply gaskets to and the front door to work on, 2 bathroom countertops and sinks to replace, though I can think of more to do, this will be enough for the moment, and that's just the inside, the outside eventually will have to be painted(since the existing paint is slowly wearing out, thankfully the material underneath does seem weather resistant), and the metal roof will need a new white snow coat to be applied someday.

If one were to buy a drone on Amazon, would that be delivered by drone, or would it just fly itself to the buyer?

My boss has a Prime account here at work. Last week she ordered some books. Some of the packages arrived on Sunday. Being a school, we were closed. she had to go through the notification emails for each package and request redelivery so they wouldn't be sent back and have to be reordered.

I'm in the "I can wait for the cheapest delivery" camp. I don't buy a lot from them anyway.

I am pleased to see that tigerdirect is finally offering a "buy online, pick up at the store" option. Or at least their emails say so. I haven't tried it yet.

I am visually impaired and self-limit my driving. It is so nice to be able to shop for things we need from the comfort of my computer chair, and have them show up quickly on my doorstep. We have Amazon Prime and we love it. It more than pays for itself in shipping fees.

Don't get me wrong, I use Amazon all year round and spend a not inconsiderable sum with them. The Prime option wouldn't suit me as it stands, because I have no interest in downloading music and videos. But they do rely on people signing up and forgetting to cancel, as I did. My fault not theirs.

I was just pointing out that others might have forgotten as well. I am not knocking Amazon!

No. Its a good job you reminded me.

I do have the student prime for the Canada one which I use a lot. That is free 2 day shipping.

I find it really useful. Especially as textbooks are much cheaper.
