Is anybody getting cookies from google that allow heaps of adds and turns your links GREEN

I am only getting this problem when I come to the Berkley home page or log in through the browsers . First it started happening in Chrome then I had to use explorer and delete Cookies , It really stuffs things up some sort of malware or some thing and only happens when I use the Bionic client .

If I don't open Bionic it does not happen .

I'm using Chrome, and I've not seen anything like that - just an experiment with green buttons (not links) in the CSS stylesheet at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/index.php.

No Richard not like that more like a note ...

Exactly. It's only happening to you, and it's not caused or delivered by BOINC (or even bionic).

Which suggests that your first guess - malware - is possibly correct. I'd suggest running https://www.malwarebytes.org/.

OK . Does it conflict with Microsofts security essentials ?

No - it's looking for a different type of nasty. If you just download the free version, it only runs when you ask it to - there's no permanent ongoing protection. But be advised, it's a thorough program and takes a long time to run - you may wish to reduce your CPU usage to give it space while it runs.

Don't panic the green link is only that way to show you how they look and to be aware in case it happens to anybody else .

Running it on my daily driver now.
Seems to be working flawlessly and smoothly.
I doubt it shall find anything amiss, as I have had Trend Micro running for a year or more now. And it is pretty thorough as well.

EDIT...
And I was wrong.
It found 48 instances of some BS sweetpack thingy that I had uninstalled a while back.
So, worth the time to run it.

Not intentionally, but I do run the downloads that MS sends.
Would that be it?

I have used Malwarebytes for 3 years on both Win7 and 8.1 environments along with MS Security Essentials and Norton Security Suite concurrently with no conflicts.

Running regular scans(mine is weekly) you can catch a lot of 'PUP's (Possibly Unwanted Programs), that get installed when you agree to EULAs in some sites/programs. I also use Winpatrol from Bill P studios concurrently with Norton to catch some things that Norton misses.

I have good results with these programs and have been virus/malware free for four years ***(Sound of knuckles on wood).

Just a bit of a side note.....
I have never run a scan on any of my XP crunchers.
I trust that no malware ever came from the Seti servers.

Mewo.

Looks like the AP cleanup is done.
Hopefully after the weekly outage & DB cleanup MB & AP splitting should be restored to their former levels (once we have new data to split).

I think this may be the first time I have seen the data set queue be empty from all the work being split.

Cricket indicates more data being imported. It will probably take a couple hrs before it's ready to be split.

I think you are referring to something I have too. Mine is "Vibrant AdChoices" where you get a double underlined green link on certain text within a web page.

It sounds like it's not malware and need an ad blocker to stop it.

If you click on the INFO icon on the popup you get this http://www.vibrantmedia.com/whatisIntelliTXT.asp?ipid=62034&cc=ca&server=tomshardware.us.intellitxt.com

EDIT: I found this to block it. Simple and easy http://wafflesatnoon.com/how-to-disable-vibrant-ads/

There is one already being split.

The Second AMD computer 7486794 is not mine or some how has been cloned or copy'd . SET@HOME HAS BEEN HACKED and it's my account that has been used

It's the computer with the least units .

My computer has heaps of units as the computer with the more units 6977455 says when I update seti it's the second 7486794 computer that seems to contact the servers WTF is going on

How can this happen when I wasn't using the computer ????????

To me it looks like it is your computer. As I understand it, If BOINC thinks your computer hardware has changed it may create a new computer for you. It looks like it started uploads/downloads on a new ID.

Your current computer number will be shown in your event log (at start up) so that you know which one is really you.

If your computer number changed, I believe you can merge the 2 computers together for the stats.

Others will know more about this than me ....

If that were true it would be most likely that your computer that had been hacked, instead a clone appears to have been created, both machines are identical so as has been suggested try to merge them.

And please stop making alarmist statements until the facts are known. Which they are not.
