Hey, was wondering on how to do this, I've had seti running on my opteron 240 for the last few weeks, and finally got around to adding a second proc. Seeing as how the boinc program has allready benched the one proc and started processing WU's, is there anything that needs to be done to make the boinc program realise there's a second proc and rebench?

I guess no one more knowledgable than me is going to jump in here, so I'll give it my best shot.

You shouldn't have to do anything to get it to recognize the second cpu (shouldn't being the key word there), but you do need to manually run the benchmarks again. To do this, execute the program with the -run_cpu_benchmarks flag. After that, it should have everything reset and ready to go with correct benchmarks.

Hmm... well, I tried re-running the benchmarks, and it only detected 1 cpu.

I'm not sure what other information to give here... but here's how the system's setup:
Dual opteron 240's on tyan 2885 board
DragonFly BSD 1.0 (smp kernel built June 27'th)
boinc client 3.18 (from seti's site) running through linux emulation.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything more to suggest. All of my systems only have 1 cpu, so outside of HT on one of them, I've never dealt with a second real cpu.

I would imagine that it's going to go back to the os though, and that it's probably not recognizing the second cpu either. But again, I have no clue what would need to be done to correct it. Sorry.

The OS is possibly going to need re-installing in order to change to a multi-processor kernel. Certainly Windows and Suse Linux need this. One item where Plug and Play is not so hot!
