Newky brown, good grief the hangover from that was horrendous. Never touched it since. I find it goes very well with a beef and potatoes/pasta meal. But no way would I make it a night-of-drinking beer (not that I do THAT anymore....) Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Good Morning! Just popping in for a whiff of Bacon aroma. Mmmmmmmm. That should hold me. Off to a meeting of the local Breweriana Collectors club. Hopefully to sell a few goodies and perhaps buy one or two. Good job on the Bacon, whoever's at the grill today. :D .g "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

That extra wasn't beer Chris. I don't mix my drinks. That reminds me, how much Alcohol can I take from Germany to the UK. I would like to bring some Mirabellenschnapps and Slivovitz(?) with me. And if I can some Birnen und Kirchschnapps too. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

That reminds me, how much Alcohol can I take from Germany to the UK This what I found "There are no longer any duty-free allowances for journeys within the European Union (EU). Instead, you can bring back an unlimited amount of goods from travel in any EU country, as long as it is for your personal use or as a gift. In practice if you are over 17 you will be allowed up to 800 cigarettes, 10 litres of spirits, 90 litres of wine and 110 litres of beer. If you bring in more you will have to persuade customs that it is for personal use. Not sure how that applies as a "non EU resident". depends if you have a German passport. Seems to be quite a lot!! |

Yes I travel with a German Passport. Thank you Bernie, that answers my question. AHH maybe I should clarify. I did have Limoncello after a beer or so and then some port one day. With regards to Slivowitz, homebrewed are the best. The best I ever had, was at a Hungarian Restaurant in Bolinas. I am pretty sure, the brother have now retired. Haven't been back since 96, so not sure if the restaurant lived on. Great food too. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

Had a Hardee's Monster Biscuit on my way to court. Wow. Didn't realize it had been so long since I read this thread. Some Hardee's around here are also Red Burritos. I did try the grilled cheese breakfast sandwich and it was okay. At least not as dry as a biscuit. Now back to skimming through all the boring coffee posts. I, too, have that problem with biscuit sandwiches - too dry and crumbly. Prefer croissant or muffin sandwiches, or grilled sourdough or Panini. But what I really prefer is an omelet or scramble over hash-brown potatoes, that fills the plate, and having the time to eat it slowly, not wolf it down like a breakfast sandwich on workdays..... What is it with Americans and hash browns? You guys seem obsessed with them :-))) It's what we're used to. All my life I've eaten shredded/grilled potatoes at breakfast. I've had country-style chunks or rounds/scalloped grilled with chopped veggies and spices, but I just prefer them hash-browned, with maybe a little chicken broth when they're grilled, or shredded cheese melted in. As Dr. Asimov used to say, De Gustibus non Disputandem est, or something like that.... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Hmmm... now you've got me wondering whether grits is like mealiepap (pronounced meeeeeliepup :)) Evening all ... been some chaos over at einstein - beginning to think they may have their own moon and that it's very full... so tonight's itinerary after feeding some hungry household inhabitants... is to head over there and lend them one of my most helpful anniet hands :) Could take awhile... they're a very bright lot... just struggling with my expansively empty echoey head :))) Rest assured... I will be missing you all tremendously whilst I do so :) Catch up later! :) |

Hmmm... now you've got me wondering whether grits is like mealiepap (pronounced meeeeeliepup :)) If you know what cream of wheat is, grits is the same thing, only corn instead of wheat. Very similar to polenta, actually, just mushier. And yes, you're a day behind in responding to your LPTP/mystery person thread. The longer I sit here, the more I will want massive quantities of yummy food with bacon, bacon, and more bacon.
