Have a nice day". Yeah I would mate if you spoke English ..... Oh, and here is another one. You go into any of these fast coffee joints, Costa Coffee etc, and you get this bewildering array of fancy stuff. No I don't want an Italian frothy coffee, I want an ordinary cup of English coffee, with a dash of milk. What do I have to order from the girls behind the counter, where English obviously isn't their first language? An AMERICANO !!! That really pees me off :-((( Bah humbug Chris, As it as been told to me over the many times I've talk with people from GB. We don't speak English.. We speak American. And yes, only about half of Americans speak American as their first language. Where I live, I hear Spanish, German, Arabic, Russian, Ukraine, and a whole host of other languages that I can't even begin to figure out. Why they all think it's cool to speak Rap escapes me .... It's how they demarcate their generation from the ones before it Chris. We all did something equivalently eye-raising to the generations that went before us. :) I'm fascinated to see what their children and grandchildren will do to make them shake their heads in disbelief :) I do get a little taken aback sometimes though, when I'm walking along minding my own business and someone walking towards me suddenly launches into a torrent of potty mouth at someone walking behind me who responds in a torrent of potty mouth. At that point I do consider ducking to avoid what I expect to be a rather unpleasant brawl only to be glad I didn't embarrass myself when it turns out they're just good friends saying hello to each other :) ID: 1631594 ·
