Message 1694966 - Posted: 24 Jun 2015, 4:20:00 UTC - in response to Message 1694907.

Hi from a state park along the Central Coast, where Eric and I are currently attending a family reunion. Last night when Eric and I were walking from one family member's cabin quarters down to ours, we saw two wild raccoons.

Dang! I didn't know that raccoons could be that skinny!!!

There isn't any raccoon lady to feed them!!!

I refrained from feeding the raccoons in the state park. It wasn't easy though...

LOL!!!

Actually, I'm home now and Tiny Tim will be expecting his dinner this evening. I don't have any grapes for him, but I think he will enjoy a small scoop of catfood.

Mother Raccoon teaches her kit how to scale trees. She tries over and over until he finally gets it. Watch the adorableness:

I was holding my breath!

Me too!!!

The litters I've seen mama raccoons bring into our backyard have ranged from one to five kits, with the most typical litter sizes being three to four kits. I wonder where her other babies are hidden.

I've posted a new pic in the buggy tread. I think it's a Robber Fly.

It's huge and has beautiful green eyes.

I was afraid to pick it up at first, but I got over that pretty fast!

He's a big fella with a very pointy "mouth." It could inflict some
serious damage, I'll bet. But he didn't use it on me. Thank You God.

Raccoons really have had that "it-factor" since that sci-fi movie came out. Nice to be on the leading edge of what is trendy, for once in my life.

You ought to see what's on an Anime DVD called: Raccoon Wars, but one needs a DVD player that can play Region 2 DVDs(Japan), USA is Region 1 and the item mention costs $56.98, plus any tax and any shipping. Plus the audio is in Japanese, English is in Subtitles only of course.

Had a power blackout yesterday night. My UPS did it's job. Gave me time to shutdown my cruncher. Just wish the generator had enough watts to handle everything running in the house. It is good enough to keep the basics running. Not much else. My dad installed a 220v plugin that is wired into the outside power breaker box. Just turn off the main power to the breaker box. Start the generator. And plug in the 220v extension cord from the generator to the main outside breaker box. And everything is powered in the house.

The basics here include a 4 ton heat pump that suck a good deal of power. Lose the heat pump and things warm up pretty quick with temperatures just over 100 right now.

I had the outlet for the tv and cable modem fail again briefly, I'm going to later on when I can see better, try and move the cable for the power strip to another outlet nearby. Nothing I like better than getting down on all 4's and then trying to get up, yeah I manage and it isn't easy to do either.

I had a couple of power "bumps" this morning. Enough to fritz out the TV briefly, but not enough to kill the cruncher that's not on a UPS. The other cruncher and the Uverse gateway (and a few other minor things) are on a UPS.

That's a big problem for me too. I must have something to lean on to get my body up high enough to get my legs under me. This is a real problem when I run the streetcar at the museum, when I have to check the oil in the air compressor before I start.

I've been postponing re-arranging my computer desk to fit in a new Scanner due to Lumbar and Cervical disk problems. As you say getting up is a LOT harder than the opposite.....hell gett'n old.......
