Yes it is. And I've now held a wild hummingbird. They weigh next to nothing and seem so extremely fragile.

Awesome!!!

How is your friend feeding the convalescing bird? Eye dropper?

Since we didn't have anything correct at work, a straw worked. I know they have eyedroppers and proper hummingbird feeders at home.

Gary,

Hummingbirds need more than "nectar." They eat small insects
to get protein. If you're not able to feed your little hummer
some protein in the form of insects, you really need to find
a hummingbird rehabilitator. If there isn't one who can take
over for you, there might be one who will at least give you
advice either over the Internet or over the phone. Please try
to find someone to help.

And please don't buy the nectar crap they sell in stores. It really
isn't as good as they want you to think it is. Especially if
it contains red dye, which could be harmful to hummers.

One of my neighbors told me that a large raccoon had been trapped
and taken away from our neighborhood about a week ago, and that is
about the last time I saw my backyard friend - the raccoon who
came into my house via the doggy door to eat the cat food. He and
I were growing quite close.

Now I'm very sad. It's just another little joy in my life that has
been taken away.

The Animal Control people have reassured me that any raccoon that
they trap is relocated to a non-populated area. I don't know how
successful my "Baby" will be in an area where he has to relearn
how to find food. I have to hope he'll be okay, but I'm having
trouble.

I'm not the one with the bird. The person who has it already told me they know it needs insects in addition to nectar. Also this person has had successful outcomes before.

I wish I'd been able to get a shot of Grace being up on top of the bookshelf today, a guy was in here to relight the gas heater and make sure the gas worked on My stove, it did, He was asking if there any dogs here and I said No, but there is a cat up on top of the bookshelf looking down at you, He turned and looked up at Her, He didn't say much of anything, outside of where's the gas heater. I don't think He was expecting a cat like Grace to be both above Him and as large as She is. Though He might have also said 'nice kitty', but I'm not sure.

Or even a pet carnivorous plant, ala the Addams family, though I loved the scenes with the trains, ramming speed! And if that wasn't enough, there was something explosive waiting to go off.

Grace likes to see what goes on and likes to be above it all, kind of like in the Addams family, by being on top of the bookshelf watching some stranger, while He/She is unaware and then I clue them in, Grace, My kitty is watching from above and behind I tell them, My Gomez Addams moment.
