Way back in the 1970s the local hippy colony in
the town I lived in was convinced that Governor
Brown was so cool that he must have been a dope smoker....

Not that I personally could ever
know what that would have meant....

They say you really should not be scared of the dark. But that's why some of us are still alive.

It isn't the dark itself, but what's hiding IN the Dark......

Ya. That thing that went bump.

The other day I was out with our dog in a small forest near where I live late one night.
It was pitch black and I could not even see our black dog.
It turns out that the forest is a burial ground from the Viking era.
Spookie:)

Jakub Moravec was attacked by a polar bear today.
He was there for the event of the eclipse today in Svalbard. Before his colleagues managed to scare away the beast was both biting and tearing Jacub who later was taken to hospital.
Suddenly, the polar bear was inside the tent where the Czech tourist Jakub Moravec was sleeping. At the hospital after the attack on Svalbard, he says that the sleeping bag protected him, and that his only thought was to protect his head.

Wow Janne, that is the first image of a White Bear attack
victim where the human was still alive and in one peace,
that I have ever seen.
That is one lucky guy!

Do you call Polar Bears for White Bears?
We call them Ice Bears:)
Anyway he was very lucky.
The only predator that "likes" human flesh is Polar Bears.

Here we only have Brown Bears but in a 100 years there have only been 2 attacks to humans.
Both of them was carrying a rifle btw

Watch out for the mother if you see this!

Oops. Then I'm lucky. I haven't seen bears in the wild:)

Some years ago there were five boys who would end the school day to go off piste on Funäsdals mountain as one of the unfortunate happened to go across a bear's den. One skier who came shortly after fell down in the den and the bear woke up and went to attack.
The other boys responded sensibly and probably instinctively. They screamed to scare the bear.
After the attack the bear ran away.
The injured boy was able to get out of the den. He had been bitten in both legs and grated on his back and was taken to hospital in Östersund. The boy was doing well in the circumstances.

Just to give people an idea of how tough our
Inuit are, there is film footage from the early
twentieth century taken in northern Quebec showing
a man taking on a White Bear with a flint tipped
spear. I am looking for it now/found it!

Wow. The TV evening is saved:)
I'm going to see it with our dog Tosca.
We dont have ane Ice Bears here but for some strange reason foreigner thinks that we have...
But in the Northern Canada and Norweigian Svalbard and Danish Greenland there are plenty so far.

I like to call them Ice Bears "Isbjörnar" because they will soon be extinct due to that polar caps are decreasing.

I Think he does. He got a Nobel Prize for letting us ignorant people know about the climate change.
