I bet we could eat off her floors! You could eat off my floors, but you'd need a good dose of antibiotics after. ~Sue~ |

Okay, after much uninstalling and installing and going backwards, I think seti@home is working for me again. Let me ask this, though: How many tasks are you folks getting? When my computer finally contacted seti@home, I only got one task. ~Sue~ |

Okay, after much uninstalling and installing and going backwards, The server might be waiting to see how you do with that one before it gives you more. This would especially be the case if you had a bunch time out because of whatever your problem was. As for lack of entertainment, you could read some of the other threads here. I think Beer Drinker's and Rocky's Cafe would interest you. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

I'm happy to report that I now have about a zillion tasks from both seti and einstein. The problem must have had something to do with my latest OSX update. It appears that's when the problem began. I'm still involuntarily getting beta updates. I got one on Jan 8, and the last time my computer had communicated with seti was Jan 7. I downloaded and installed an older version of BOINC and now everythings hunky-dory. I have tried to get off the beta list, but whatever I did apparently wasn't enough. And they don't bother to ask me if I want to download the latest beta, they download it to me and then I have no choice but to restart my computer and install it. Or it installs automatically - I forget which. In either case, I'm forced to update to a beta version of Yosemite. I'm going to try again to get off of that list. I don't remember what I did last time so if anyone knows how to stop receiving Apple's Yosemite beta updates, please let me know. Thanks. ~Sue~ |

That's odd about your Mac. Mine has always just told me when the official update is ready. I wouldn't even know how to get a test version. You have to sign up. I did when they were looking for beta testers for version 10.10. I found a link while reading one of the many online tech "magazines." Like most things, it's easy getting signed up. Getting taken off the list, well that takes some special magic. ~Sue~ |
