Hi guys, yep, not long home myself. Annie and I spent a lovely afternoon together in London and you'll never guess where .... A Sushi Bar!!

Neither of us had been to one before, but being adventurous we gave it a go. It had a little conveyor belt that ran past every seating position, with all the cold dishes for sale placed on it. If one took your fancy as it passed you just took it. If you wanted a hot dish from the menu you pressed a button where you sat and the waitress would come up and take your order for that, or a beer or wine.

Each dish was colour coded so the staff knew what to charge you when you had finished, quite a clever system. One particular item that caught our eye was what looked like marzipan sweets, but which turned out to be something called Anko Mochi, which is apparently also known as Daifuku 大福. Quite unusual and not quite what we were expecting!

Over 3 hours of very pleasant company, and as always, a real pleasure :-)

p.s. And yes we put the world to rights, discussed politics, the price of bread, and of course you lot!

:))

G'day everyone. :-)

I just thought I'd pop in now before my Saturday turns busy and I'm not to sure when Beer O'clock will be here either.

Have a great day.

Cheers.

Another Martian tidbit, in case it escaped someones attention.

NASA Science News for Dec. 19, 2014
NASA and an international team of planetary scientists have found evidence in meteorites on Earth that indicates Mars has a distinct and global reservoir of water or ice near its surface.

Just checking in. I'm glad Annie and Chris had fun at the sushi place. Sushi isn't my thing, but pulling food off a conveyor belt sounds like something I'd like! :~)

Dg, thanks for the Martian tidbit. I will check it out.

There was lots to choose from and not by any means all raw fish either. And it was a lot of fun :) With a bit of practise I might even develop some finesse at catching the stuff as it passes by. Not sure I'll ever manage the eating implements though. Stabbing things onto them and hoping the food didn't fall off before it reached my mouth was the best I could do... Resorted to my fingers for the fruit salad because it didn't take very well to being stabbed and using the darn things how they were meant to be used would have left me cackhandedly launching pineapple and melon and stuff all over Chris. Could have been the end of a beautiful friendship :)

@DG - thanks for the Mars links. That planet is getting to sound even more interesting than the interesting it already was before :)

edit: off to do that calculator thing now and see what else I've missed in the thread :)

edit of edit: Yes... I've got a busy weekend coming too and not the busy I relish either :( Never mind :)

Hope you're close to sorting out your fan issues Grant.

So... this week I have been Italian whereas last week I was a Timor-Lestian apparently (if that's what you are if you're from Timor-Leste...?)

The K-9 police officer who has worked with me at 21c for the past 9 years was just here visiting with my mom and I. We had a couple Beck's Darks and now I'm ready for a nap. :~)

:)))))))) - sorry I meant :( Hi DG :)

Hope you're feeling better StriderFin. I'm not pointing a finger of blame or naming names or anything - but the missing snow... bit too much of a coincidence don't you think? :)

Of course... I'm saying nothing :)

Hi Julie - have a lovely party :)

Hi Grant and Gordon and celt too! And everyone else as and when you pop in of course :)

That's what I do when it rains hard, inside with my beer. I can't do 20 of them but a 4 or 5 tops these days. It's getting so 1 beer takes me about 2 hours to drink, I found out a long time ago that they can make it faster than I can drink it so I slowed down. :))
Cheers everybody
