They wern't to bad Cliff, if you were only doing 1 task per GPU (they did take a hell of a lot longer to do though), but they created havoc for those of us running multiple instances.

Cheers.

Hi Wiggo,

I run 2 tasks per GPU, BUT I interleave them with tasks from another project:-)
I find that it reduces overall temps on both GPU and CPU and can result in a faster turnaround of some tasks.

More bang for my electric buck:-)

The forums, web site, task lists - the lot - are currently redefining "slow response time".
Currently unusable, will try again later.

Got my C2D E8500 to ask for CPU work, got 27 VLARs, got it to ask for CPU work again, got 71 VLARs (Total 98 VLARs), just finishing off my last two CPU non VLARs.

Edit: A quick runthrough of those VLARs found me 8 overflows, the next work request gave me 8 replacement VLARs.

Claggy

A couple of hours ago I received 77 CPU tasks none of these have Vlar written in them. It would appear pages are loading slow in New Zealand as well

@all,
This has gone from the sublime to the plain daft:-( I got a whole 2[two] WU and then the now as usual NO tasks sent.

15/12/2014 16:32:12 | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for NVIDIA GPU
15/12/2014 16:32:16 | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
15/12/2014 16:32:16 | SETI@home | No tasks sent
15/12/2014 16:32:16 | SETI@home | No tasks are available for AstroPulse v6
15/12/2014 16:32:16 | SETI@home | No tasks are available for AstroPulse v7
15/12/2014 16:32:16 | SETI@home | Tasks for CPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them

Cummon, are the servers ONLY generating CPU tasks these days? That was the 4th poll to try and get some WU..Grrrr..

Rant over.

Cliff,

Much of the ALFA observing time during October and November 2014 was done for the ALFA ZOA deep survey. The observing technique is what makes most of the WUs vlars, not the SETI servers.

I know how you feel Cliff.

My GPUs keeping spinning up and then down.

No work for like half an hour then like 10 MBs download, burn through them and then nothing again.

But all other AP programs are disabled, so no validators, assimilators or splitters running.

They will come online any year now :-)

Well put Sten - I'll be raising a very large glass of Jura in Eric's direction when all the servers are running as they should....

(I suspect Eric will be relaxing with something appropriate at more or less the same time...)

I would hazard a guess that the server coming online is about the time Matt & Jeff started their looking over of the restored bits.

Preparing my cache for new AP's. Setting everything except AstroPulse v7 to NO.
Come to daddy AP's :-)

This decision was obviously premature. It doesn't seem as if we will get any AP's soon. I have to allow MB WU's again, or my GPU will go into a local ice age.

EDIT: OK, Validation pending AP's are starting to validate now. We may be getting some new ones after all.

EDIT 2: Just got my first AP WU too :-)

I was going to suggest: "a resend of one that failed to validate?" - but no, it was a newly split WU.

It seems that 3 AP splitters are are triple teaming the files, currently on 20jn14ab (maybe if I say something often enough they'll stop doing that).

Cheers.

APs are few and far between. Very low production rate, but at least they are some new ones and not resends.

AP Assimilators, as well as the Fix AP Assimilators, are all still down.

Interestingly, even though they are shown as disabled, tasks that I reported just two hours ago still validated. So... they are running, they just aren't showing that they are.

APs are few and far between. Very low production rate, but at least they are some new ones and not resends.

They do seem to be a bit sparse, but they do occasionally get assigned. I imagine it is a combination of very low production rate and a lot of hungry caches trying to grab as many as they can. (aside: anyone else remember the days when the feeder could only allocate 3 APs at a time..and 97 MBs? This almost feels like those days again.)

Patience, young grasshoppers... your caches will fill (or reach the limits) eventually.

The validators (both v6 and v7) are showing as running - it's just the assimilators which are down.
