I know most of you probably don't like reading about other's travails but I've got to vent somewhere. First I have been dealing with a bladder/prostate problem now for almost a month and the soonest I can get the situation corrected is Dec 11, but even though it hurts like hell the good news is it's not cancer. My car has suffered two major system failures, first the alternator pulley bearing froze up and after that was replaced my AC compressor pulley started showing the same problem. Just got them fixed and now my refrigerator has quit working. Also the new power chair I ordered in the hope I could load it into my car's trunk without assistance is too heavy for me to lift so I have to send it back. I'll have to hire someone to repack it. And finally today I bit down on a sausage biscuit this morning and one of my teeth broke the rest of the way and fell out.

In the grand scheme of things these are all minor troubles, individually, but when they all happen over a short span of time they make me want to find a hole and crawl into it.

Sorry to hear about these troubles, Bob. Things will turn out better; sooner I hope rather than later. :-)

I wonder if your fan belt was adjusted to tight there as that will kill those bearings if it was Bob.

Anyhow, look on the bright side, things can only get better.

My best of wishes to you Bob.

Cheers.

Got that one as well, but already been there, it's not pleasant, so something to make one smile helps more than one realises...

I'm sorry you've had all that stuff hit at once. And the sausage biscuit incident is the last straw, I am sure. I chipped a tooth on popcorn a few months ago, but it was my fault for crunching with reckless abandon on the less than fully popped kernels. I guess you bit a tiny fragment of bone in the sausage? Hey, my dad broke a tooth on a pickle at McD's many years ago. I hope you can take care of your tooth issue asap.

Im sorry for your misfortune Bob. I have had a my fair share of late also. I broke a tooth two years ago eating a pizza. My dentist told me that bread dough is the cause of many a broken tooth. She said that the dough acts like a wedge on a cracked tooth which is what I had. She had told me about it being cracked but I blew it off. My last check up she told me I had another tooth that was cracked. I told her fix it now. It was cheaper than doing it the hard way.
I feel your angst. I still have some car repairs that need to be done.

I know most of you probably don't like reading about other's travails...

Aah yes... other's travails... well Bob... here's how it works re: the don't like reading bit...

That you're suffering travails is what we don't like *anniet grumpy face* Actually... come to think about it... that bit we really don't like...

...but I've got to vent somewhere.

And this bit we would be very cross if you didn't do... because whilst we can't change what has made you need to vent, neither are we fairweather types and we ALL know venting is an important process to coming to terms with how...psychotic life on this itty bitty planet can be from time to time... or how... psychotic *suppress mad staring eyes mode* it can make us too.

*pause to read Bob's travails*

Oh Bob :( Really sorry to hear of those woes! Can totally empathise :/ It's not unreasonable to expect a sharing out of troubles over a number of shoulders is it... but oh no... there you are, quietly minding your own business and TA DA!! you're picked out by a great big cosmological searchlight and given a thorough slapping about *another anniet grumpy face* I may be the new "it" for December... I will keep you posted. It's looking... calamitous... but it won't feel so bad if it means you're no longer a target of cosmic mischief... and anyway... I have a way of looking at things... (fearlessly - with a sort of cross-eyed sideways and down the nose air which helps make everything stay blurry while getting through the shock/horror part :)).

In the grand scheme of things these are all minor troubles, individually, but when they all happen over a short span of time they make me want to find a hole and crawl into it.

I don't blame you... find a big enough hole and I'm sure you wouldn't be alone in it! And broken cars fridges and teeth are not minor things, on top of being unwell... really really sorry. Hope they can all be resolved quickly... let us know how you get on... and hope you get better soon!! Pain is awful :( You're in our thoughts... :)

Yep, that't a hell of a month. I hope it's winding down for you.

Re: the power chair, my father had an electric crane installed in his trunk. He would remove the seat from his chair (scooter, actually) and put it in the back seat of the car, then attach the crane to the base and lift it into the trunk. It was a big scooter (he was a big man, as am I), so it barely fit, but it did. I'm not sure why you need the chair; his problem was with balance, so as long as he could lean on something he could stand and walk.

I can only stand for a short time to make transfers. like from the chair to my bed, or toilet, or driver's seat of my car. Currently my power chair stays home while I use an old manual chair when I go places. I was hoping the new power chair would be light enough for me to lift it, while sitting on my rolling walker, into my trunk. But my car has a fairly high threshold to lift things over and I was unable to get enough leverage to lift the new chair into the trunk. I will be using the money they refund to buy a platform that mounts to a trailer hitch and hydraulically lowers to drive onto and then raises up to travelling position. I can then continue to use my walker to get to the driver's side door and into the car. Had I realised four years ago after my car accident that I would not be able to do any significant walking I should have bought a van with a wheelchair lift instead of the car I have. I do not have the finances now to make the switch so I am stuck with what I've got. I've always been pretty much a car nut and my natural preference has now come back to bite me in the a$$.

I have bought a used, but in very good condition, refrigerator that will be delivered later today. Due to the expenses I have incurred this last month I broke down and used a credit card for the purchase.

Thanks everyone for your support. I would really like someday soon to meet a few of you. Remember, I live in central Florida not far from Disney World and also the Kennedy Space Center so anyone who plans to visit either let me know and maybe we can arrange to meet somewhere for some refreshments.
