Message 1607108 - Posted: 30 Nov 2014, 1:28:55 UTC

I only recently installed v7.4.27 after happily running v6.10.60.

How about putting the separate event log window back onto the messages tab where it belongs.

Until it's back there, I'm returning to v6.10.60

Regards

Then you'll be stuck at 6.10.60 forever, as the messages tab isn't coming back. And not needed either, as any third party GUI, such as BOINCTasks can do that for you.

The messages tab was taken off, because a lot of people perceived all messages in it as error messages and complained about that. Thus no messages tab, but a separate event log window.

Which some of us find pretty useful, because e.g. it allows for simultaneously looking at debug lines in the messages and checking on the Tasks tab what the task is doing there.

V6 also leave you blind to important Notices such as the current situation at Seti.

I tried BOINCTasks, and I can't get it work Correctly. It can only see the computer it is running on.

I tried BOINCTasks, and I can't get it work Correctly. It can only see the computer it is running on.

On [Computers] tab:
- in 'Computers' column: Copy/Paste the name of the remote computer
- in 'Password' column: Copy/Paste the password found in the file gui_rpc_auth.cfg on the remote computer

Allow BoincTasks in Firewall

On the remote computers:
- create by Notepad file remote_hosts.cfg with contents similar to:

192.168.1.1
192.168.1.2
192.168.1.3
192.168.1.4
192.168.1.5
192.168.1.6
192.168.1.7
192.168.1.8
192.168.1.9

192.168.0.1
192.168.0.2
192.168.0.3
192.168.0.4
192.168.0.5
192.168.0.6
192.168.0.7
192.168.0.8
192.168.0.9

192.168.0.100
192.168.0.101
192.168.0.102
192.168.0.103
192.168.0.104
192.168.0.105
192.168.0.106
192.168.0.107
192.168.0.108
192.168.0.109

'Read config file' or restart BOINC on the remote computer (so it can see the new remote_hosts.cfg and allow the 'main' computer (where BoincTasks is) to connect)

Both .cfg files are in BOINC Data directory
