Manmade climate change is now dwarfing the influence of natural trends on the climate, scientists say.

Using satellite data rather than tide-gauge data that is normally used to measure sea levels allows for more precise estimates of global sea level, since it provides measurements of the open ocean.
The team observed a total rise in the ocean of 7 centimeters (2.8 inches) in 25 years of data, which aligns with the generally accepted current rate of sea level rise of about 3 millimeters (0.1 inches) per year.
But that rate is not constant.
Continuous emissions of greenhouse gases are warming the Earth's atmosphere and oceans and melting its ice, causing the rate of sea level rise to increase.

I think there is many smaller but inhabited islands in Oceania that are already in jeopardy of beeing flooded.

Okay. I had this wild idea that the melt was happening because of particulate carbon, very black, landing on the snow and melting it. That black particulate carbon being released at the beginning of the industrial era when we didn't have oil and natural gas to burn but had to use coal and wood. Look back at the black smog and soot of London for the melting.
