IF GhG-ACC is correct, and the major driving force behind the climate changes we see today, then Algore, the UN IPCC, and all the other politicians are just not doing enough. I have said it here before. If we stop using all Fossil Fuel... ALL of it... right now this instant... it wouldn't be enough to even really slow down very much the climate change we are observing in the short to medium-long term. Maybe in a couple of hundred thousand years the climate might get back to normal... And this is the case even if we stopped right now this instant EVERYTHING else we are doing that is driving climate change. There are just WAY too many humans on this planet.. somewhere around 2000 times too many... Unfortunately, I think you may be correct, or at least in the ballpark. But I don't think that this should stop us from doing what we can. And that we have "free market solutions" already developed or in development with plenty more on the way should be encouraging... doing the right thing should not have to cost more. So I will keep riding my bike. :^) |

Heard on the Radio: A Town in America has refused to install Solar Panels as a retired Lady Scientist said they would suck up all the Sun's energy causing the Crops to fail. Fake news or for real?! Heard on the Radio: She was only a school teacher in science, not a scientist. Could it be worse? Yes. Who appointed Rick Perry as US Secretary of Energy? Oh. Trump did... US Energy Secretary Rick Perry has said an increase in the use of fossil fuels in Africa may prevent sexual assault. Mr Perry also said electricity would stop people from reading by the light of fires, which have toxic fumes. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41854358 |

Here is a "free market" solution to prop up the dying coal industry: The Trump administration wants to force electricity customers to pay for a $10.6 billion annual bailout of the failing coal and nuclear industries through surcharges on their monthly energy bills. The quietly announced proposal would require ratepayers to fully underwrite a new mandate that coal and nuclear plants hold a minimum of 90 days' worth of fuel on-site under the false premise of providing security from power outages. |

Here is a "free market" solution to prop up the dying coal industry: "$10.6 billion annual bailout of the failing coal and nuclear industries"! That it is some outlandish piece of corruption for pollution!! Very curious as to how the polluting coal is lumped in with (presumably the decommissioning costs of) old-style nuclear... Why?! Is Trump that desperate for votes and favour? Or is there some high level corruption there?... And for another outlandish Trump-ism: Climate change: US report at odds with some in Trump team The White House has sought to downplay a major climate change report, which was compiled by 13 US federal agencies. The study is at odds with assertions from President Donald Trump and several members of his administration... ... Mr Trump, who has embarked on a tour of Asia, once said the concept of global warming was created by the Chinese in order to make American manufacturing less competitive. Earlier this year, he announced he was pulling the US out of the Paris Agreement to cut global emissions... ... Running to nearly 500 pages, the report concludes that the current period is "now the warmest in the history of modern civilisation". It is "extremely likely that human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse gases, are the dominant cause", it finds, adding that "there is no convincing alternative explanation"... Which will win, and how soon? The view according to Trump or the real world? Only in the USA? Zillow*: Climate change could make nearly 2 million more U.S. homes susceptible to future flooding The term “underwater†— used frequently to refer to homeowners who owed more on their mortgage than their property was worth — has a more frightening meaning in a study by Zillow. *Zillow is an online real estate database company that was founded in 2006 and created by Rich Barton and Lloyd Frink, former Microsoft executives and founders of Microsoft spin-off Expedia. |

Keystone Pipeline leaks 210,000 gallons of oil in South Dakota Exxon Valdez 150,000 barrels http://www.heritage.org/environment/report/the-trans-alaska-pipeline-lessons-the-keystone-xl-pipeline-debate or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lac-M%C3%A9gantic_rail_disaster As long as there are mouths that demand food, the oil is coming out of the ground. If you don't want the oil coming out of the ground then you have to reduce world population. |

An article in the Economist that indicates pretty much what MajorKong has been stating... it doesn't look like there's any viable way of dealing with this long-term, Paris accord or not. Fully 101 of the 116 models the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change uses to chart what lies ahead assume that carbon will be taken out of the air in order for the world to have a good chance of meeting the 2°C target. The total amount of CO2 to be soaked up by 2100 could be a staggering 810bn tonnes, as much as the world’s economy produces in 20 years at today’s rate (see article). Putting in place carbon-removal schemes of this magnitude would be an epic endeavour even if tried-and-tested techniques existed. We could probably do it if we could plant two Amazon-sized forests in currently unforested areas and leave them alone. However, given our propensity for clearing forests and expanding population, this doesn't seem like it will ever happen. //Staying positive and riding my bicycle. :^p |

Keystone Pipeline leaks 210,000 gallons of oil in South Dakota Finally, at last Gary you have made a statement that I totally agree with. +1 Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

This city in Alaska is warming so fast, algorithms removed the data because it seemed unreal Last week, scientists were pulling together the latest data for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s monthly report on the climate when they noticed something strange: One of their key climate monitoring stations had fallen off the map. All of the data for Barrow, Alaska — the northernmost city in the United States — was missing. Promising to ‘Make Our Planet Great Again,’ Macron lures 13 U.S. climate scientists to France What initially looked like an impish dig at President Trump by French President Emmanuel Macron over climate policy has turned into a concrete plan. |

The data for Barrow, Alaska seems already "lost" from 2014. I would say that the raw data is hidden! http://notrickszone.com/2014/07/05/weather-dtata-institutes-destroying-orginal-raw-data/#sthash.rsEvO7fD.dpbs Some scientists devote their lives painstakingly assembling fragments of evidence to piece together a picture of the past. They deserve tremendous credit. Unfortunately today we appear to have inept or sleazy scientists who take collected data and destroy it – thus permanently blinding our view of the past. These people deserve to be loathed. |
