[UPDATE:] Pixelations still occurring. They are better than they've been; NCIS pixelated twice, (normally four times), and NCIS New Orleans also pixelated twice. Wheel of Fortune also pixelated once. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

[UPDATE:] FYI I watched NCIS OTA and it pixelated once. Didn't record a time though. |

[UPDATE:] I didn't notice either of them pixelating, but I can't definitely say they didn't. I don't have HD either. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Well who ever get's to come out on the 25th is getting a fat paycheck. All is not lost. If we catch things on the first ring, it won't disconnect. For me to answer, I would need you to let me know in advance. Too many junk calls. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

Well, things just got WORSE!!!!! :-( NOW, we have NO TV... When we turn on ANY of the boxes; TV lasts 15 seconds, then freezes, then a blue screen comes on saying "Signal Lost" with a list of instructions to perform. Tried rebooting DVR, twice, no change. Called Tech 7, marked VM Urgent. He called back and said he's sending someone out from his team to fix it. I don't know what they're going to do; but, they better do something, and FAST!!! Well, things just got WORSE!!!!! :-( I tried the TVs again; this time, after the blue screen, I went to DVR Recordings. I selected a recording and hit "Play". It worked!!! So, live TV had failed; but, recorded media could be played... I called Tech 7 back, he had me hard reset the Gateway. Now ALL TVs work fine!!! :-O :-/ This is maddening... Well, things just got WORSE!!!!! :-( Starting to sound like you have a good old fashion memory leak. For those who don't know what that is, often software will grab some memory and then release it when done. If it grabs more than it releases, sooner or latter it will run out of memory and lock up. A simple reset will clear the problem until enough memory leaks to reach the bottle neck point. Sometimes you will see a device slow down as you reach the bottle neck point. We had several in our unit at one time or another and the customer work around was to reset the unit every so often before the failure until we located the problem and provided a software fix. If it's not a memory leak, then it could be power glitches. My Apple Power PC was no where near max load on the power supply but when the power company switch lines, they glitches the power and crashed my system. A good UPS on the computer solved the problem but for what I pay the power company, they should supply cleaner power. |

I called Tech 7 back, he had me hard reset the Gateway. Now ALL TVs work fine!!! :-O :-/ This is maddening... Power glitches. Reminds me of years ago when a neighbor took up a sideline of building wrought iron fencing. His arc welder destroyed the power. My computers would crash. One day I talked to a power lineman. Told him what was going on. He said, in an industrial area, you are SOL, but it isn't permitted in a residential area. Someone must have had a talk with the guy because it stopped. I know U-verse has battery backup, but I don't have a clue it is can deal with transient glitches, or only a prolonged drop. If you can't find any other explanition, perhaps a UPS and surge suppressor are called for. OBW many people don't know you need to replace surge suppressors on a regular basis. http://www.zerosurge.com/technical-info/truth-about-movs/ Memory leak, well, as you just recently had the box installed, I doubt it as any leak that serious and they would be pushing out an update to fix it as hundreds of users would have the issue. If it doesn't happen again you could put it down to static electricity or a passing cosmic ray :) |
