Message 1601978 - Posted: 18 Nov 2014, 4:29:50 UTC - in response to Message 1601706.

Bartender I want three large bloody Marys!!!

I just finished updating eight computers that haven't been done for a few months... (My own fault for neglecting them.) Four of them are VM's on my Win 7 H.P. x64 laptop; then the laptop itself, then three more systems in the house... Took hours; but, it's all done now.

Yesterday was spent changing all the personal Network hardware. Now there are two new Netgear 8-Port Gigabit switches that each feed into the new Linksys Dual Band Gigabit 4-Port router, and it's WAN Port is linked to a port on the U-verse Gateway. One of the switches was given to me by an AT&T Tech; the other switch and the router my parents had to purchase.

Three new Vonage devices are on the way, and will be here Tuesday. Then, I change them too.

On Monday, AT&T Tech number six comes out to remove a newly discovered Bridge Tap about 240 feet away from the house. This was discovered by AT&T Tech four who's been to our house several times to assist me in finding out why we have been getting pixelations on all four TV's and the DVR.

Pixelations occurred in mid September. AT&T Tech one came out 9-29, and a couple times more after that. Tech two followed about a week later. Tech three came out and insisted we change from straight Coax to Phone Line into the RG and Coax out, and change our RG from the old "2WIRE" to the new "NVG589"; then, upgrade to 45 Mb internet package... All this was done; and at each step the pixelations still occurred.

Tech four states that due to the newly discovered Bridge Tap on the new Port two to the RG, that any pixelations now would be caused mostly by that. So, we can't further diagnose the new Network configuration until after the Bridge Tap is removed.

My hope is that after Tuesday, when the Vonage devices are replaced, and our internet stabilizes from the Bridge Tap removal, that our problems will be solved...

So, barkeep, how about those drinks... Keep 'em coming... :-/

Darn those bridge taps!

I used to know a guy who always ordered a Stroh's beer, and a salt shaker.

Well, as stated in my other Thread, they fixed the lines. It turned out not to be a Bridge Tap; but, rather, a faulty pair of phone lines. Switched that out for another pair, and up we went!!!

So far, no more issues. I will keep monitoring for a little while, just to make sure...

Tonight, I would like two shots of Jager! :-)

G'day everyone.

I would've been here earlier, but both of my rigs were loading up on more backup work, my main rig is still trying to download them all, while both rigs want to do updates making communicating a very slow task. :-(

I've had a few beers with a couple of mates already, though I'm feeling a power nap will go down well very soon.

Cheers.
