Hi folks, longtime SETI fan on a new account/machine. I just downloaded BOINC onto a recently-updated MBP laptop with Yosemite, OSX v10.10. I'm hoping you can help me iron out some problems I'm having, probably due to my own ignorance of BOINC.

The BOINC app seems to be functional, and I have successfully added MilkyWay, Asteroids, and have attempted to add SETI itself. MilkyWay and Asteroids seem to be doing something--they are downloading or processing something. SETI has not done anything, does not appear in my task dropdown, but DOES appear in my Projects dropdown. The screensaver has been successfully set up, but when it's run I only see the BOINC logo and plain text showing Asteroids and Milkyway progress bars--no cool science graphics, no graphs, etc. The readme says "It may take a minute after the screen saver starts before the science application graphics appear." but I've let it run for several minutes with no change.

While I'm happy to be crunching at all, I do really want the old SETI graphs to light up my life, so I'm hoping you can tell me what's going on and how to implement the graphics. I have searched the forums for references to this issue on OSX and/or Yosemite, but didn't find anything, so my apologies if I missed a prior thread.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

As I type you have three SETI@Home tasks running, but they will have to wait their turn as BOINC processes tasks in a First-in-First-out sequence, and those with the shortest deadline get a higher priority than those (like SETI) with a long deadline.

Do Asteroids and MilkyWay not have any graphics? Even when I suspend them, SETI does not appear to pick up the slack.

My science graphics are up! Looks like it just needed a long initial download. Thanks folks!

I spoke too soon. Only the SETI graphics are working. I let ClimatePrediction run overnight with all other tasks suspended (and most of a day) and there are still no graphics for it, although the task homepage does indicate it has them. What's the deal? Do graphics just take a very long time to download?

I forgot to mention that the "show graphics" button in the advanced menu is greyed out for ClimatePrediction.

Graphics (and the screen saver) show only for running tasks and only when they have graphics support. Not all projects have released graphics applications with their science applications.

To see the Seti graphics, BOINC must run at least one Seti task, else it'll show the graphics for any of the other projects if those projects have graphics. The same thing needs done for the screen saver, but here the default BOINC screen saver will kick in if a project application does not have a graphics application.

So similarly, the CPDN model must run before you can see its graphics.
Albeit it is possible that CPDN does not support graphics on the Mac. That's something best asked at their own forums.

One caveat at Seti: When tasks run on the GPU (CUDA/OpenCL) there won't be any graphics, as these applications do not come with a graphics application. Only the Seti applications that run on the CPU have graphics capability.

I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro

Running both Seti@Home and MilkyWay@Home

"Use GPU while computer is in use": unchecked

Screensaver settings:
Blank after 120
Run overview screensaver for 0
Run project screensaver for 120
Switch between projects every 30

When I run the preview, I only get the Bionic logo

I have completed 180+ seti units and 14 MilkyWay units
