I have the same error with an AMD 7970. Even with TdrDelay set to 8 and running one instance of the GPU application at a time. SETI@HOME 7.03 doesn't run for more than about 10sec before the GPU resets.

Running driver version 13.1 though which is otherwise perfectly stable for other projects. I see nothing in the doc release notes that would indicate this version of the driver would not work.

Suggestions?

EDIT: One interesting thing I did not notice before. It dies after the progress percentage reaches about 2% than goes back to zero and starts counting up again. 10sec later KABOOM. This seems pretty odd.

(I'm not sure cASe mattERs but it's best to Copy/Paste it from Microsoft article: TdrDelay TdrLevel)

In the Windows registry case and correct spelling matters.

AMD (Non-Legacy) Driver 13.1 has a known problem with the MB App SETI@HOME 7.03. You should update the Driver to avoid that problem.

ReadMe_MultiBeam_OpenCL_ATI.txt
Known issues:
- Catalyst 12.11 beta and 13.1 have broken OpenCL compiler that will result in driver restarts or invalid results.
But these drivers can be used still if the kernels binaries are precompiled under an older Catalyst driver.
That is, delete all *.bin* files from SETI project directory, revert to Catalyst 12.8 or 12.10, or upgrade to Catalyst 13.2 or later, process at least one task
(check that those *.bin* files were generated again) and (if needed) update to Catalyst 13.1.
New builds with versioned binary cachase will require additional step: to rename old bin_* files to match name (driver version part of name)
of newly generated ones.

...
Running driver version 13.1

As TBar say - Catalyst 13.1 is bad:
"Cat 13.1 has APP runtime 1084.4 compiler Bug. Do not use for SETI@home v7"
http://www.hal6000.com/seti/boinc_ati_gpu_cheat_sheet.htm

(the above page have links "To download ATI PCIe drivers")

P.S.
No need to do steps after:
"But these drivers can be used still if the kernels binaries are precompiled under an older Catalyst driver"
Just update Catalyst (I'm not sure which version is best for your GPU and OS, ask TBar :) )

OK I will try a less geriatric version of the driver. But where did these release notes come from? I do not have this file in
C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu nor do I have the DOCS subdirectory mentioned earlier in this thread.

I really don't know if stock applications users have "DOCS subdirectory" of if they receive any ReadMe files.

But I know where you can get them:

If you go here:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=76035&postid=1596403#1596403

... follow the link to 'Lunatics main download area' and get the installer file
(Lunatics_Win32_v0.43a_setup.exe or Lunatics_Win64_v0.43a_setup.exe)

... then you may use 7-Zip
http://www.7-zip.org/

... to extract any file from the Lunatics installer (it have inside numerous .exe .dll .txt and other files)

Only problem with this is I do not have any files matching the general description claggy listed. I have already 'upgraded' to Catalyst 14.4 and for my trouble, even with a clean reinstall, managed to destabilize 3 machines with BSOD's and random hangs. Now trying 13.12...

even with a clean reinstall

How do you do a clean reinstall of the drivers? Do you clean out the remnants of the old drivers before installing the new drivers?

Interesting link. Uninstall via AMD's "remove everything" option. Then a reinstall of Catalyst.

13.12 seems to mostly work but isn't perfect...

You don't want to know how much AMD's "remove everything" option leaves behind, mostly in the system32 folder and the registry.

I just found out... Molly Maid they are not.

I reinstalled 13.12 with a Driver Sweeper pass after AMD's pseudo-uninstall. The machine with the 7970 still resets the GPU regularly on SETI GPU tasks. The machines with older GPU's don't (so far). Guess I'll have to cut bait on this.

I see you're ujsing stock applicatgions. Instead you could opt for running optimized "Lunatics" applications on that GPU. I run them on my HD7870, rock stable.

For more info and download details, see this thread.

My files did not match up I just deleted all of the files like what he said it should look like. I figured worst case it would mean a new install but it has worked i have not witnessed a crash since.
