After having several lockups with my rig after installing the latest driver I went back to the previous driver I had installed. However even after this I had another lockup, which I believe may have been due to BOINC and or a client being damaged by hard resets while running. I have therefor uninstalled lunatics v43 and reset S@H then reinstalled lunatics v43. So far so good I have been running longer than before and no lockups. I guess its going to be a case of wait and see. BUT that said its quite possible that the latest incarnation of nvidias drivers might have been the original cause of the problem, or it could just be something specific to my rig. Anyway this is a heads up to possible nv driver problems Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |

Well I just had windows crash... So whatever it is/was is still present:-( I've tried some bios tweaks to try in keep my cpu cooler, but since its water cooled anyway I'm not entirely sure that the CPU was the cause of the latest crash, before it was lockups not windows crashing.. I installed 344.48 yesterday with no problems with a clean install, which I always prefer along with a warm machine recycle. Did you exit BOINC prior to installation? I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Hi, Yup, boinc wasn't running, or owt else.. Everything seemed ok, then out of the blue my rig locked up, only way out was hard reset:-/ Been ok now for a few hours, but I'm minimising cpu use, so only 3 cores avail to BOINC, monitoring temps and loads. Funny how the supposedly more capable GPU seems to be the one working hottest even though its supposed to consume less power... Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |

I installed it yesterday also. Driver only. I always use Custom/Clean install. No problems so far. Lt |

Hi, How many tasks are you running on each GPU and what %CPU for each task? It looks like you're running 2 ea. GPU w/ .75 CPU per task. You might be over tasking the GPU connected to the monitor. I'd lower the % of multiprocessors to at least 80%, and either increase the CPU usage to 1 core per task or lower it to .5 per task. Check your event viewer to see what caused the crash. I'm running a 4700K w/ 2 x GTX750Ti FTW & .5 CPU per task & normally run at 90% of multiprocessors. Even though my monitor is connected to the internal HD4600 iGPU, if I have to much going on the monitor I have to cut back the % of multiprocessors to 80% to keep from slowing down games or video. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Hi Cliff, I'm running 2 WU per GPU at .2cpu and .04 cpu per task according to the task display. And running 3 CPU cores at 90% of time. Thing is that I'd been running 2 WU per GPU and 4 CPU cores for days, no problems. The only change I made was to install the latest NV driver. Then I had 4 lockups needing a hard reset:-( After re-installing the earlier NV driver and resetting S@H and reinstalling Lunatics v43 all seemed well then windoze crashed. So I reduced my CPU usage and throttled the CPU by enableing AMD cool and quiet. edit and only running 40% of CPU in settings, was 60% Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |
