Oh yeah, everything is very slow on SETI's pages. This thread takes several minutes to load for example. All SETI pages seems to be buried in molasses.
Yeah well, who's in a hurry :-)

If someone doesn't fix the ap assimilators soon it will probably crash altogether. The number of 'Valid' continues to rise and will continue to slow the database until it pukes. My machine usually runs around 120 'Valid' and rarely rises above an 'All' number of 600. it's now reading;
State: All (1817) · In progress (390) · Validation pending (264) · Validation inconclusive (10) · Valid (1151)
The numbers on the SSP are for AP v6...Not AP v7.
Look at other people's numbers, http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/top_hosts.php

Well now the same Host is up to;
State: All (3839) · In progress (172) · Validation pending (340) · Validation inconclusive (6) · Valid (3318)

I don't know how much she can take, but I would expect more problems as the numbers continue to grow...

Yes,
my stats look like this:

State: All (7370) · In progress (58) · Validation pending (1549) · Validation inconclusive (50) · Valid (5622) · Invalid (17) · Error (74)

Application: All (7370) · AstroPulse v6 (149) · AstroPulse v7 (5378) · SETI@home Enhanced (0) · SETI@home v7 (1843)

I managed to get a big bunch of uploads through and got 32 GPU tasks and now they are processed and the uploads are failing again.

Hi Michel,
Yup uploads need retries, but I just got 141 tasks downloading ok, and reasonably fast..

Just the upload traffic is iffy now.

Remember that the absolute numbers for AP are much lower than they are for MB - and they both share the same database.

Looking at http://setistats.haveland.com/ - and you can see an annual graph by clicking on any mini-graph - the average number of AP results returned over the last year was 1.70k per hour for AP, 65.86k per hour for MB.

I agree, we'll need to start tidying them up in due course, but I don't think the situation is anywhere near critical yet.

And the SSP hasn't updated for 75 minutes - I think we're down again.

If we assume that 1.7K results per hour also applies to AP v7, and that slightly over 3 results have been needed to get a canonical result for those, that's about 500 per hour invisible AP v7 WUs ready for assimilation. 500 * 24 days * 24 hours * 8MiB storage space ~= 2.4 Terabytes storage space for the WUs. File deletion is after assimilation.

Although a couple of Terabytes isn't a huge amount in today's terms, it might be significant. I estimate storage space for MB WUs around half that with the figures on the SSP now.

Hi Sten,

Guess its time for a backup project..
From whats been going on my guess is that S@H wont be sorted out
until after tomorrows outage for maintenance and maybe
not everything will be working perfectly even then,
this current problem may be another leftoever from the last crash..

I'm more or less OK, got a load of tasks before everything got really snarled
up and I have a concurrent backup project on the go.

My phone has been trying for a while to upload a finished Beta task. It just keeps saying "uploading."

Okay, I just checked the log. It says "transient http error."

Okay, I just checked the log. It says "transient http error."

I went to my prefs and bumped it up to 3 cores allowed to run, then hit update. It came back "no tasks available."

Someone wanna send Eric a PM or email about it?

I'm sure that Eric knows about the problem as someone has been trying to kick things over a few times, only for it to soon crash back again. ;-)

Cheers.
