In simple terms for us less sophisticated.

What is the end result of the switch from v6 to v7. I understand it is still early to come to any firm conclusions, but I am dying of curiosity.

If I had to guess and it's a wild one. Pulled it right out of you know where, I might say we have a 10% speed increase and maybe I hope an improvement in the end result of the calculations.

I'm just simply trying to understand this.

The biggest difference is V7 uses much less CPU resources.
On heavy blanked units its more than 50% faster.

better PC resources usage and better science (only in 7 words, easy enough I suppose ;) )

In simple terms, your GPU will no longer be bogged down with Heavily Blanked tasks that take 3 to 4 times as long to complete. The Blanked tasks will run about as fast as the unblanked ones on your GPU. On your CPU, blanked tasks will finish Much faster depending on the amount of blanking. In both cases the results will be much more Science completed in the same amount of time.

For a few of us it means you no longer have to identify the tapes producing Blanked tasks and move them to the CPUs. It's Win, Win, Win. Faster GPU, Faster CPU, no more moving Blanked tasks to the CPUs.

In short...it's great.
