Grant, I hope you don't have to go Grant; however, if you do, please take your cell phone with you so that Uli and I can make contact with you. Speaking of phones, did your home phone get turned back on??? The last time I tried it, AT&T's automated message stated that the line was disconnected. :-( Good luck Grant. :-) TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Morning, Jules. Well, I found out the hard way there's a difference between a Data CD-R and a Music CD-R. I put a blank Data CD-R in a record & tape to CD converter, and the darn thing is stuck, and the tray won't open! The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Morning, Jules. Actually there apparently is very little difference. Both audio and data can be duplicated onto both music and data CD-Rs. I’ll say it again. Audio and data can be burned onto music and data CD-Rs. However, whether or not you can get data onto a music CD-R depends on what type of hardware is used to burn the blank CD. |

Morning, Jules. Threre should be a small hole, less than 1/16 of an inch, some where on the front of the drive. Straighten out a paperclip and push it hard into the hole. This should unlock and open the tray. |

Morning, Jules. I'm going to get my spectacles out when I get off work and back home, and look for that. I can't imagine the silly thing jamming up on any type of CD as long as I wasn't eating peanut butter on it. The unit is brand new, and this was a brand new blank CD. Very very frustrating. The place I bought it from, Hammacher-Schlemmer has a lifetime guarantee on everything, but I really don't want to go through the hassle of exchanging it. The guy on the phone was condescending with me about the data vs. music CD thing, and acted like I broke it because of the difference in formats. That's ridiculous. Some drives still have problems with certain brands of media Gordon. ;-) Anyhow, I think that I'll wonder down the hill to see if I can get into any trouble tonight. :-D Cheers. |

Morning, Jules. I thought all disks were the same myself but I suspect you didnt click it in hard enough and it has just jammed. It doesn't take much resistance for the electrics to fail to open the tray. When you manually unlock the lock with a paper clip you should be able to pry the tray out if it doesn't come out by itself. |

Even if certain brands or types of CD's give it indigestion, or the CD isn't in there quite right, I have a bad feeling there isn't any quick-release hole for the paperclip trick. I sure didn't see one when I was fiddling around yesterday, but I'm going to get my magnifying glass out when I get home. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |
